Compass's Retirement
"So here at Service Kennels we mainly breed Border Aussies or the Border Collie Australian Shepherd mix. We have many dogs for you to bond with and test out." Rachael said. Ashfur nodded. "First up is Trekk." She said bringing the brown and white Border Aussie out. "Hi, sweet boy." Ashfur said. "Do some basic cues see if he'll respond to them." Rachael said. Ashfur scrached at his wrists making Trekk whine and continue to bat at his arm with his paw, blocking the negative action. "Good boy Trekk, good boy." Ashfur praised. "You will be working with him for a month then we'll be on to the next dog." Rachael said. Ashfur nodded. Over the next month Trekk and Ashfur's bond grew, but he still wasn't sure that the young pup was the right dog for him. "He's not the right dog for me, I'm sorry." Ashfur said. "Don't apologize it happens. We'll find the right dog for you." Rachael said reassuringly. "Thank you." Ashfur said. "No. Problem, it's my job to make sure every handler is happy with their dogs." Rachael said. Ashfur smiled. "I think I might just have the perfect pup for you but I want you to try his half brother first." Rachael said. Ashfur nodded, he was open to other dogs. "Actually let's move him to last, I want to give you the opportunity to try out the other dogs first." Rachel said. "Okay." Ashfur said. Over the next few months Ashfur had tried eight other dogs all which were cute but he didn't feel like he bonded with. "We have the last dog that I know you'll love." Rachael said bringing out the blue merle Border Aussie. "This is Toko he is Secret's half brother." She said. "He's perfect." Ashfur said. "Okay. Good. Your not taking him home right away, you know that right?" Rachael asked. Ashfur nodded. "I know, I did the full process with Kari, she was from a program and Diviot and Compass were self trained." Ashfur said. Rachel nodded. "Good."
