Happily Ever After
#WritcoStoryPrompt42
She chose her cleanest piece of clothing to wear. It was a festival afterall and she wanted to celebrate with everyone else. When she stepped into the street a speeding car drove by splashing dirty water on her.
A tear fell down her cheek. The poor had no right to celebrate...
She had such high hopes about the festival tonight. She had taken extra special time taking her bath and mom said she could use some of her perfume salts, so she smelled of lavender and warm vanilla. And her dress! It really wasent anything extravagant, but to Elise, it was the most beautiful dress she had ever seen. It was made of the softest pale pink cotton. The top of the dress was fitted perfectly to her bossom, and she felt her womanhood come alive when she put the dress on. Next to her milky white skin and her reddish golden locks of hair, which hung every so slightly past her sholders ,its like the dress was made for her alone. The skirt was slim to her legs with a slit up to her thigh, not too high, not too low, just enough skin showing to say she.was a lady but revealing enough for any man to linger there and dream of the unknown. She had perfect shoes of the same color pink with a 3 inch heel and she had practiced every day for 3 months walking and dancing in them so she would look elegant and dance like a princess. She was.so excited! In all of her 16 years growing up,.she had waited on this day. Sheldon would be there. She.had promised him her first dance. She loved him. Had since kindergarten. But she couldnt.tell him that . Oh no. They were the best of friends. Always together and secretly they both wanted more but the time was not right .. They would know when it was. Mom called for.me from the kitchen.."Elise! Your going to be late !! Better get your shawl amd get to steppin' before dark! Dad will be there to pick you up tonight when he gets off work around 10pm. I took one more quick glance at the girl in the mirror. Oh my, who is that? I touched my face...it is me! All smiles,.i thank God for this night,.and.yell to momma as.im coming down the stairs.."I'm ready Momma! Here I come!" I reach the kitchen, give her a quick kiss on the cheek and out the door I go! It's about a 15 min walk, and i am
grateful for it to have time for the butterflies to calm down in my stomach. Just as I was about to turn the corner, I saw the bright red car speeding down the road so fast, water shooting up past the roof of the car, and before I knew what hit me, I was soaking wet from head to foot. Today's rain had stopped way earlier, but the roads were full of water. The man driving the red car didn't so much as wave at me or stop to see if I was ok. How rude. He had no idea what he had done. He didn't seem to care either. My one night to shine and instead I look like a wilted flower. My hair was flat, no curls, my dress had huge dirty water spots and one of the heels on my shoes broke when I tried to hop on the sidewalk to try to protect my clothes from what was inevitable.
I sat down on the dirty concrete. Who cares? My dress was ruined. And the night I had decided to tell Sheldon I loved him was ruined. I cried and cried and just sat there. Don't even know how long. Except to say thru my sobs, I looked up and there was Sheldon.Offering me his jacket and putting it ever so gently around my shoulders. I was a hot mess! I looked awful. For Sheldon to see me like this I was so embarrassed and felt he was on the verge of laughing at me. But he didn't. He surprised me beyond belief. He bent down on one knee and said, Elise I have loved you since I met you at age 5. I think you are the most sweetest, kindest, smartest, funniest, beautiful woman I have ever known and I don't ever want to be without you. You complete me. You make me the happiest man alive. I want to grow old with you. Elise Hart, will you do me the honor of marrying me? Be my Queen and I am forever your King. My answer was to jump in his arms as he whirled me in the air and kissed me on the lips . ...And we lived happily ever after. The End.
