BLUE DIAMOND. Chapter Two
CHAPTER TWO.

…. "You can't be serious? How am I supposed to face that woman?"

Diane said to her assistant when she got to the office the next day. She couldn't sleep the other night when she heard of the trouble she was faced with. How could she face her mother after all these years? The woman that left her when she was eight years old. It was difficult for her growing up without a mother, and having an abusive father that just ventured out his anger on her all the time. Diane never thought she would have a chance of speaking or seeing her mother face to face after all these years.

….. "Well, there is no other way we can source for the main material which is the blue diamond. We have to meet with her and discuss, I also heard that she is the only dealer that has such diamonds in the whole of Africa."

Her assistant concluded. There is no way they can get their hands on the diamond if not reaching out to Mrs Maria, she is well known for her craft and collections. Known to owe some of the most precious rare items in the world, and she is also a buyer of natural Earth like Diamond. She had won the highest bidder in the whole Continent of Africa, no one dared challenge her bidding skills. She won the highest bidding for the blue diamond at an auction in South Africa, the Blue diamond goes for a sum of five million US dollars, uncut yet, but rare.

..."Who do you say is buying this ring again?"

Diane wondered. She has never made such a rare artwork before. This could set her work globally, and it's a rare opportunity for her and her jewelry company.

... "Mr Adams Aleshinloye!

….."What?

Diane exclaimed. Adam Aleshinloye is widely known in the jewelry world. He is known for collecting rare Diamonds and stones. But this time he wants to make a blue Diamond into rings for his mother who is getting remarried again after a long time.

…. "We have to get it done, no matter what we need the blue diamond. Bukky, make an appointment with Mrs Maria, we are buying the Diamond."

Diane said, although not confident enough to meet her mother yet.

…."Are you really sure? You told me you are going to fire me if I ever let your mother in here?"

Bukky complained. It's not the first time Mrs Maria would show up to their office, but each time Diane would send her away not wanting to talk.

…."We are to keep it professional, right?"

Diane said. It's not a big fuss that she is meeting her mother, but she just can't forgive her yet.

…."Alright, I will call her office to let her know. Do you want anything else?"

…. "Yes. I need some red wine!"

Bukky ignored the request and went to do her work. Drinking in the morning is not a healthy thing to do, but Diane has gotten addicted to drinking that she can't do without it for a day.

…. "I'm still waiting for my red wine!"

Diane shouts.

*************************************

The appointment was set for the afternoon. Both women decided to meet outside their workplace for a lunch meeting. Bukky was left to complete the design at the office, while Mrs Maria secretary couldn't attend either. The two women awkwardly stare at each other for some minutes without saying a word.

…."I'm sure my secretary has told you what brought me here, so shall we dive right in?'

Diane said coldly ignoring her mother's greetings.

….. "You should learn to at least reply greetings. Don't be so rude to people?"

Mrs Maria said sternly. Both women are known for their domineering attitude. No one would deny the fact that they are related even if the person is meeting them for the first time.

….. "Maybe if I grew up with a mom, I would have known how to respect others!"

Diane said, dissing her mother. She still felt the betrayal just like yesterday her mother left her and her father to chase her own dream. Who would have thought that both mother and daughter would go in the same line of occupation.

…. "You still blame me for everything, right? If you were in my position you could have done the same too. I said, `` I'm sorry, but you never listen. You never gave me a chance to talk to you, and I'm grateful that work brought me and you together."

Mrs Maria said. She regretted leaving Diane with her abusive husband, but she didn't have the means of taking care of Diane back then. If only Diane could give her a chance to speak her mind.

…."Let's discuss what brought us here, shall we? I want to buy the Blue Diamond you have in your care. How much are you willing to sell?'.

Diane questioned. She tried taking her mind off her past.

…."I never told you I wanted to sell?"

Mrs Maria argued.

…. "But you set a meeting with me? Why don't you want to sell?

Diane questioned. She might be thinking her mother is mixing business with personal issues.

….. "That Blue Diamond is a rare collection of mine, why should I sell it to you? I wouldn't even sell it to anyone!"

Mrs Maria defended herself. She had bought that Diamond for a reason, and she is not selling it to anyone.

…. "Ma, if you're not selling for some personal reasons, I would like you to please rethink. That Diamond means the world to me."

Diane complained.

…. "It means the whole world to me too. I'm not selling!".

Mrs Maria concluded.
