Bottomless
#WritcoStoryChallenge
The footsteps following me sounded closer. I ran through the empty corridors of the hospital, my heart pounding with terror.
I turned a corner and stopped short. I had reached a dead end.
My heart pounded even harder, like it would jump out of my chest. My eyes darted from left to right and hot tears fell from there.
"Oh God help me, I need to get out of here, " I said through my quivering lips.
It was here, it was close. I could feel it, could smell it, could hear it. The dreadful creature was here. I tugged at the tubes stuck up in my nose. I wished I could pull them out, but the fear of blood stopped me. I hated the sight of blood, I hated blood. Perhaps because it hates me too, I suffer from Leukemia. Or perhaps because this monster, lurking so closely behind, had mom's splashed everywhere.
Accepting my fate, I turned slowly. I was now standing face to face with the 6 feet tall monster. Red, blood eyes, scary fangs and two metal metal hands.
He was warned, but he had remained adamant. He went too far, till he got more than what he wanted. How knowledge can drive one to doom!
Now, this he has become. A murderous, destroying, terrible monster with no other determination than to fill a bottomless pit of hunger. Hunger that represented his undying, irresponsible passion for science.
He screeched in victory, it's long, thin tongue leaking blood off his lips. The lights flickered.
This was it. I would finally be with my mother. I've had enough of being alone, fighting alone, running alone, from these mentally deranged monsters.
He dashed at me but I just stood there, fear free, carefree, as my mindless father led his uncontrollable, carnivorous, metal hands, to grab me to fill their ever hungry bottomless pits.
