Blood Bath
We went to San Antonio and saw the Alamo.
We strolled along the river walk and saw the lamps aglow.
We saw the Holiday Inn Express that used to be the jail.
The contract had requirements though when it went up for sale.
The iron bars still stand in place across the windows there,
though some of them have been removed
for safety everywhere.
There used to be a chute that ran from basement to the top,
which if a prisoner died, the men would drag them there to drop.
And when the bodies finally reached the basement down below,
the morgue would burn the bodies up with nothing left to show
except some dirty ashes...
