Why is love always accompanied by pain, heartbreak, yearning, solitude, desolation and anguish in the beginning and then followed by ecstasy, delight,bliss, euphoria, pleasure and satisfaction. The answer is because it is controlled by something within us that has to balance itself and beats 60 to 100 times per minute. It can distinguish between good and bad, right and wrong, truth and lies, it can agree and disagree, it can envy and also cherish. Yes,the heart.
The heart is the thing that decides who one ends up with. The soulmate.

On a train from Bangalore to Goa, a couple boarded the general coach. The wife was nine months and she was due in a week's time. They wanted their baby to be born in their hometown. The next day morning the wife went into labor. The coach was evacuated and a medical practitioner attended to her. Somewhere between Devangere to Hubli she gave birth to twins. Both were boys. The couple were overjoyed. Enroute to Hubli, the train was mugged by dacoits and coyotes. The husband tried to save their belongings while the wife tried to protect her new born babies. Unfortunately she could only hold onto one and the other was carried away. Their happiness was short lived. Before they could nab that coyote he got away with the baby. They were grief stricken. Further the coyote sold the baby to an orphanage nearby. The baby was then adopted by an NRI family for a good sum which was a common practice followed by that orphanage. The NRI family resided in the states.

Shawn was the name of one of the twins who lived in India. He was a cardiologist cum surgeon. He was a renowned specialist and wanted to be the best. He was just 28 and was already getting recognized. Inorder to become the best he had to dedicate most of his time to his profession. He was a workaholic. But despite his busy schedule he would once a month hangout with his friends at a pub close by and would enjoy a couple of beers with them. One evening in the pub he came across a pretty girl. He was in awe of this tomboyish blue eyed beauty. He couldn't take his eyes of her. He felt as if the universe sculpted her for him. He knew in his mind that he had to woo her. He made his every attempt count. He caught her attention, found out her name and number, got to know her and eventually got her to be his girlfriend.
She was Samarah. A music enthusiast, carefree life, lived that moment to the fullest as if there were no tomorrow.
She would attend most of the music concerts orchestrated in town, have a few swings at the pub with her friends, loves to travel and a movie buff. In short the opposite of Shawn.

A couple of times he accompanied her to the concerts but could not enjoy it as much as she could. The places that he took her , though outwardly she liked it, inwardly she never really did. A few times citing work he refused to accompany her, she felt lonely. She felt she did not know him. She tried her best to get around him to know him better but found it arduous. He only thought of her as the girlfriend he wanted to spend his time with only on his leisure day. He could not commit himself fully. He could not deviate himself from his goals.
Time flew by so fast as they were almost reaching a year into their relationship. Samarah wanted to take their relationship a bit further hoping atleast after that they would have a healthy correlation and would spend more time together. What better time to plan it than on his birthday. She wanted to surprise him. She gave him a few things to do leaving a clue at every task. He was bogged down but somehow managed to drag himself. Finally he ended up at a concert at dusk and was looking for her. He gave her a couple of calls but she did not respond. It was a A.R. Rahman concert. He was growing impatient. Suddenly during the concert he heard is name being called by a female voice and when turned to see, it was Samarah who forced her way up to the stage, took hold of a mic and was hollering. She might have had a couple of shots too many but was wanting to show how much she loved him. She called out his name again and again and finally said the three magical words. She wanted to talk more but was rushed off the stage. She was reprimanded by the security personnel and was handed over to the police. Shawn had never faced such embarrassment in his life and escorted her to the station only to write an apology to take her home. She thought he would be impressed by what she did. On the way back he never spoke a word, dropped her and just drove off. She became sober and passed the night teary eyed. The next day she went to meet him and apologize but he was in no mood to listen. He was abrupt and said he didn't have the time. He said he made a mistake and that she was never meant for him. She lived a carefree life and never did really have an ambition. They could never sync and that they should break up. She stood there dumbfounded. Slowly it sank in. She was heartbroken and tears began to roll down her cheeks. She felt distorted. After a while she realised that she was the one who put in all the effort in this relationship and it should be her breaking up with him and not vice versa.
But she did not utter a word. She looked him in the eye and just said goodbye and departed.

Angelo was the name of the other twin who was adopted and lived in the states. He was an adventurist. He was a music fanatic and even sang in a few bands. He was on a tour with his friends as his band was asked to perform for a charity concert for kids suffering from autism in Savannah, Georgia. They met a few kids and before they could perform live they wanted to have a rehearsal. While rehearsing a couple of kids kept running about and that distracted Angelo who took a small break. At the opposite end of the hall he saw a girl who was reading a book and was not distracted nor disturbed by his music. He was amused. He then saw her playing with a few kids, fondling their hair and having a good laugh. In his mind he thought nature had destined this moment. He walked up to her and got her attention. He asked her whether he was a bad singer or his music sucked that she did not pay any attention to them rehearsing. She removed her ear pods and instantly apologized and asked him to repeat what he just said. He could not hold back his laughter. Angelo then introduced himself and the rest of the band to her and asked her if she was not too busy, to attend the event later that evening and she obliged.
Her name was Tanya. She was a bookworm who loved numbers. She also loved being around her family. She was preparing for her Chartered Accountancy entrance exam and wanted to score well to get into Harvard university. She was strongly backed by her family. Her dream was to be the CFO of a top financial firm and make her family proud.

Later that evening she turned up for the concert and enjoyed the band and also made conversation with a few kids suffering from autism. After the event she caught up with Angelo and congratulated him on a successful evening. They later went out for coffee, spoke a little and even told him that the kids enjoyed the band. The next couple of days flew by fast, they had exchanged numbers and it was time for Angelo to hit the road. The next few weeks they started texting and as days passed by Angelo got obsessed, he would wait for her texts. He felt she was his destiny. He wanted to sweep her off her feet. Since he was an adventurist he planned to surprise her by taking her to Tybee Island to do a bit of surfing and also kayaking. He then would portray his love for her and they would then hop onto the next phase in a relationship. He rode his harley to Savannah and convinced Tanya to join him on his adventure. She put forth one condition that they should return before the next night fall as she had her CA exam the day after.
They enjoyed their ride to Tybee Island and visited a few beaches. During their walk on the shore they spoke about each other's future plan, he was going to take over his dad's business and she wanted to be in a successful position in a top financial firm. She even told him, she had to contemplate with herself to come along with him on this adventure as the most important exam of her life was just around the corner. They booked seperate rooms, while he lay in bed thinking about the lovely day he spent with her, she was hooked on to her books. The next day they went kayaking and Angelo was hoping for a good opportunity to come by his way to portray his love for her but unfortunately he was not able to seize any of the opportunities. Later that evening when they were ready to return Angelo found that his bike was missing. He immediately informed the reception who then inturn informed the cops. The entire scenario was recorded in the CCTV footage and the police assured him that they would find and return his bike in a day or two. Tanya's face shrunk as she was suppose to be on her way back home, her exam was tomorrow. She kept biting her nails and was not in a position to attend calls. Angelo felt weak at this moment but kept running from pillar to post to find a mode of transportation to get her back home
The receptionist told them that a cab would come early by 3AM and that's the only service available. They had no other option but to accept it. Angelo could not face Tanya as she was pacing up and down as if on hot water. The cab arrived and both of them boarded it. Tanya's exam was at 9 AM. It would take them 4 and half hours to reach Tanya's house giving her just enough time to freshen up and rush to the exam center. During their ride the car tire punctured which only made matters worse. The driver along with Angelo got the job done and they resumed their ride. They drove directly to the exam center as it was almost time. Tanya began to panic. She somehow dragged herself to do the exam. Angelo waited patiently. She was stressed during the exam and every now and then lost focus due to lack of sleep. She felt miserable at the end of the exam. She felt as if her dreams were squashed. She ran out in disgust and found Angelo standing there. She blamed him for all the mishaps and for her not doing well. She told him that he was a distraction and that he did not know what it meant to have an aim in life as he was only going to take over his father's business. She stabbed the dagger right into his heart by telling him that she never wanted to see him again nor should he contact her. They were done. Inspite of all the trauma that he had also undergone, he just stood their silent. She hopped into a taxi and took off without looking at him. He was choked. His love was never felt nor appreciated. But in his heart he wished the best for her and moved on.

A year later, Shawn received the Dr B.C.Roy award for Eminent Medical Person. He was also the youngest to receive it. His mates threw a party for him for his success. The evening was going well until one of his friends decided to have a competition. The person who gulps down the most number of pegs wins 10k. Everyone readily agreed. Although Shawn never participated in these kind of activities earlier played along as they were only celebrating his achievement. He gulped down 2, 3 , 4 in no time but couldn't go further. He walked out of the bet. A few minutes later it hit him hard and he felt squamish. He dragged himself to the restroom and to the sink. The gods of booze were not kind to him. In the meanwhile, the closed toilet adjacent to him opened, when he looked down he found two legs in heels standing there. He was using the ladies restroom. He was a bit embarrassed. He slowly saw her through the mirror in front of him but did not want to lift his head. She looked professional. She held her breath and ran out.
A few days later a couple of Shawn's friends took him out for dinner as they were not able to congratulate him earlier. They treated him at the Le Meridien. They had a couple of pegs and ordered dinner. One of the friends saw a few pretty girls seated a couple of tables away and thought it would be fun to let them join in. He requested the girls and even told them what they were celebrating. They girls only acknowledged because Shawn and his friends were in a dignified position. They began to chat. The girls then told them that one more friend will be accompanying them and will be here shortly. When the girl arrived her friends directed her to the table. Shawn looked over and his face shrunk. It was the same lady who he saw in the restroom the other day. She came over and her friends introduced her. This is Tanya, she is VP Financial Analyst at Deloitte. She was stunned to see Shawn and he was embarrassed to look at her. Before she could speak up he apologized for his behavior at the restroom the other day and offered her a seat. In her mind she was wondering what was going on. Why was Angelo portraying himself as Shawn? Why is he acting strange? Later into the night she got to know him better but was still puzzled as he looked exactly like Angelo.
Shawn bumped into Tanya a number of times over the next few weeks and their relationship began to blossom. Tanya was a little skeptical because of his looks. But getting to know him better changed the way she thought and looked at him. She was really happy as she found someone with the same kind of dedication and ambition like hers. Shawn too felt the same way. On a date in a cruise, Shawn proposed Tanya and she was overwhelmed. She said 'YES'. He introduced her to his family and eventually finalized everything.

Samarah went to the states to pursue her higher studies in music because of what Shawn said earlier, that she did not have an ambition. She loved music. The only way she could laugh or smile now was through music. She needed to prove her metal. A few things that she did, brought back old memories where she ended up feeling depressed. She would go to the nearest pub and quench her sorrows away. A guy who was in the band noticed this happening often. She would turn up at the bar, sit alone, drink a lot, get sloshed and drag herself out. On one such instance he found her doing the same but only this time she was not able to drag herself out. She just lay flat on the bar counter. He went near her and knew she was wasted. He looked through her belongings and found her address. He helped her to her room. He just looked around and saw a couple of instruments lying on the floor. He saw music notes scattered all over and through that he knew she was in real pain. He swindled a couple of music notes on his way out. He took it home, played it, made little changes and practiced it. A couple of days later, she went to the bar as usual, sat at the bar counter and ordered her drink. This the guy noticed, took out the music note and began to play. A couple of minutes later she noticed the music that was playing sounded familiar and later realized it was a piece of her own composition but with a little twist, he took out a few sad notes and replaced it with cheerful melody. She was a little intrigued. She walked towards the band to check who was playing the note but could not concentrate because she was drunk and thought that she was hallucinating by seeing Shawn's face. She went back home.
The next morning when she woke up, the music kept playing in her head. She kept contemplating with herself and finally decided to go to the bar to put an end to this illusion. The people over there said the band only played there once a week and on Saturday's. She now had to wait a full week to put her illusions to rest. In the meantime she tried to focus on her studies, changed a few notes in her music because of the musician at the bar the other day with his notes made her feel cheerful. The whole week went by, her being in a better mood but her curiosity and eagerness got the better of her as she wanted to meet that musician.
Saturday came and Samarah visited the bar rather early than usual and ordered a beer because she did not want to mess things up. The evening started and she was waiting rather impatiently for the band to take stage. That night was Novelty dance night with masks on rather unfortunately. She now had to stay back till the end to get a glimpse of his face. She sat there staring at the band. The guy saw her and after a couple of songs played an instrumental which were her notes. She kept wondering how did he lay hands on her music. She was on hot water as she was eager to see him. The night came to an end and she quickly marched towards the band to meet the musician or rather to question him about her music. She climbed on stage and stood before him. She asked him to remove his mask as she had a few questions. He obliged but once he did, she fell silent and dumbstruck. 'Shawn' she called out. He said sorry, I am Angelo the lead musician and singer in the band. She was confused. How can someone look exactly like another. She could not believe her eyes. Angelo too kept staring at her and was too wondering what she was puzzled about. He then narrated the entire episode of what happened the other day and apologized about the music. He said he knew she was in terrible pain when he went through her music but wanted to cheer her up. He then packed his things up and walked her to her house. Both of them felt comfortable in each other's company. She then opened up about her past relationship and the reason why she was depressed. She fell silent again not for long as Angelo cheered her up by cracking a few jokes. When she got home, she felt different, she felt light. Angelo had an impact on her. She played some music that brightened her mood and after a long time slept well. He too felt a zing. He could not get those blue eyes out his mind. He could still smell her perfume. He made up his mind that he was going to win her over. The next day she was just hoping to meet him and he too dreamt the same. He gathered courage, walked to her house, knocked on the door, when she opened he had no words to speak. He mumbled but finally got a grip of himself and asked her out for coffee. She too had butterflies in her stomach. She agreed. That night they had a great time. He knew she was the one for him and in her heart she thought the same. On their walk back, he saw a band playing and asked her to join him. She was clueless. He went on stage, spoke to the band and that he wanted to sing a song. He began to sing "All of me Loves all of you" by John Legend and the spot light shone on her. He then called out her name and said the following " You make me happier than I ever thought I could be. And if you let me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way", I love you and would like to marry you. She could not hold back her tears. She nodded her head and let out a silent 'Yes'. He ran down took her in his arms and kissed her. The audience applauded. She felt like a princess. That night was long.

Tanya did not want to hide anything from Shawn, she did not want to keep secrets. She wanted to live a transparent life with him. She told him of Angelo and how they resembled each other. She showed him a picture. Shawn was taken aback and he took the news to his parents. They then narrated the story of what happened on the train and that Angelo could be his twin brother. They immediately contacted Angelo who then with his adopted parents flew to India. They all met and it was a happy family reunion. Their parents were in tears. Shawn was surprised to see Samarah but apologized for his immature behavior. Tanya too apologized for blaming Angelo and behaving arrogantly. They cleared up all their negative feelings.
Shawn married Tanya in Goa throwing a grand reception at Le Meridien while Angelo married Samarah in the States in a musical ceremony. It was only laughter and joy that followed.
