The Past We Left Behind - Chapter 2
Abigail leaned forward to see Ethan's face facing the window. It was no longer cold and serious, but full of pain and sadness. Abigail's suspicions were confirmed. Listening to that song is no coincidence. It has some meaning for Ethan.
Just then, the bus stopped and Abigail turned to face her window. She looked through it and immediately recognized what she saw. They arrived in Adaburg. The passengers of the bus began to get up one after the other and move towards the exit, forming a long queue. Abigail soon joined them, and Ethan, as soon as he noticed they had reached their destination, did the same. He took off his headphones and pocketed them, then grabbed his cell phone and stood up, joining Abigail. His thoughts were so absent that he completely forgot to take his suitcase and backpack. Fortunately for him, Abigail noticed.
"You forgot something." She told him, pointing to his belongings that were left by his seat. Ethan's eyes widened at Abigail's words. He turned and realized that she was right, his suitcase and backpack were right where Abigail's finger pointed. With a sigh, Ethan walked over to where he was sitting. He quietly picked up his suitcase and backpack, then returned to the line behind Abigail. She looked at him expectantly, as if expecting him to say something. Ethan noticed that.
"Thank you." He said with a small smile.
When they turned to the exit, they saw that the long line of passengers waiting to exit the bus had shortened. Seeing the last few people exit, Ethan and Abigail followed. Outside, a cold Adaburg breeze greeted them. Adaburg seemed to be about 10 degrees cooler than Longonis, which was probably due to the wind.
"Does it always blow like this here?" Ethan asked Abigail, who was looking off into the distance. She turned when she heard his question. "Yes, but it doesn't really bother me when it's this hot."
Ethan nodded, agreeing with her. The cool breeze really came in handy after the heat of Longonis. Ethan looked down at the suitcase he was holding, then looked around. Several cafes and small shops, buildings at every turn. That was Adaburg. People were walking around, laughing and talking, looking happy. Ethan hoped he could finally be happy too.
"I'll be fine here." He said to himself, as if trying to comfort himself. He sighed deeply and started walking.
