Is it the Sunlight
Now it's 7 days of continuous rain and Ravi is in great trouble physically as well as mentally. Ravi is a poor but a very hardworking farmer. He has no land of his own , but he has a small hut where he lives with his wife Nitu and his 3 years old son Raj. He lives a bit away from the village as he belongs to some other caste. Yes, caste discrimination still exists. But with his intense work Ravi is able to get him and his family two meals a day and saves few, dreaming of getting his son the primary education, which is a luxury for them.
But its raining for 7 days. Ravi can't go to work. But worst thing is that Ravi has got high fever. It's tough for him to move. But he doesn't share his pain for he knows how much tensed his family would be hearing this. All their stored food is about to finish. Ravi is lying down on the floor of his room . He is lying for almost all the time since the rain has started.
‐"Is everything fine?" Nitu asks
‐"Yes ,yes, just got a fever. Let the sunlight come , everything would be fine." Ravi replies.
‐"We don't have much food you know. I'm worried about the health of Raj you know. Even you seem to be weak these days." Nitu says .
‐"Let the sunlight come, everything would be fine " Ravi replies.
‐"Hope so." Nitu says.
Now its it's the eighth day, still no sign of sunlight. Ravi's health seems worse. Nitu checked his temperature and felt it very high.
‐"You need to be very strong you know, your health is worsening and we don't have any food. I don't know what to do."Nitu says in a tensed voice. All her nightmares are rushing inside her head and it can be felt through her voice.
‐"Let the sunlight come, everything would be fine". Ravi says in a half dead voice. Nitu remains silent.
Silence prevails . After sometime Nitu feels no movement in Ravi's body and his eyes closed. She checks his palm, and it is cold. The rain showers are even higher than before . Water is entering their hut through the holes. Nitu is frightened and schoked. Probably her worst nightmare has came true. A drop of tear, as bright as pearl , falls from her eye. Raj, being too young to understand the gravity of the situation, sits looking at his mother. Before Nitu realized what she has to do now, the rain stopped. Sunlight came through the holes of their hut giving it a mesmerizing scenery.
‐"Is it the sunlight?" asks Ravi opening his eyes.
‐"Yes." Nitu replies in a confused tone.
