“Helen, Helen!” the sound of her name transported her back to reality.
“You have been looking through your room window for the past thirty minutes. What’s going on”
“It’s nothing, Mom” Helen responded.
“Well then, get up and come eat your food”
“Be right there”
Helen faced the window again and sighed. She has been bothered about an issue lately, an issue robing her of her sleep, and food; she has been lost in deep thoughts and imaginations, sitting at her window, wishing and hoping for everything go as she dreamed of. She wished she could talk to her mom about it, but it’s not something she would understand, she thought. And besides, her mom hardly ever discusses anything personal with her; but still, only one person knew of this issue, her friend, Jane.
“Helen!” her mom called.
“Am coming now, mom.”

The next day at class, Mr. Ben, the Chemistry teacher, just finished lecture and walked out of class leaving an assignment on the board to take home. And soon everyone starts chattering.
“Helen, Helen. Helen!”
“What!”
“Have you been listening to all I have been saying?”
“No, why?”
“Helen, this thing is getting over you and it’s not healthy”
“I can’t do anything about it, can I?” She said and bowed her head.
“Yes you can” Jane responded, raising her head up.
“What, Jane, tell me”
“You can let go”
“I can’t. It’s just too hard” she sobs lightly.
“What you’re asking for is forbidden”
“I am a woman, I am allowed to express myself”
“But not like this, Helen”
“But I love him so much”
“Yes, I can see that. But it’s not possible. Take a look around you, there are handsome guys around you”
“I just love the way he talks and smile” Helen said, smiling and staring into space.
“Helen, you can’t date him, accept it”
“I know what to do, Jane”
“Please don’t do something foolish”
Helen quickly gets up and walks out of the class, Jane followed behind trying really hard to catch up.
“Where are you going, Helen?”
“To tell him how I feel”
“Helen, it’s not acceptable. It’s forbidden”
“I don’t care”
Helen and Jane walks into the Staff's Room, greeted all teacher’s until they got to Mr. Ben’s you table.
“Good afternoon, sir” They both greeted.
“Afternoon. How are you girls doing?”
“We are fine, sir” Helen said, smiling.
“Hope there’s no problem?”
“I have something important to tell you, sir” Helen said.
“Ok, am all ears”
“Don’t do it, Helen” Jane whispered.
“Just shut up, Jane.” Helen whispered back.
