BLoG: A Day in the Life of a Freelancer
To get right to it, being an unsung hero is just something we have grown accustomed to. We do so many things as an individual, such that our business tends to suffer when it comes to what all we do and offer as a freelancer for hire or ideally as a company. People cant seem to grasp what all our services encompass. Inadvertently, I do not use the title of Unsung Heroes lightly as there are so many in life as we know it. Being a Father I think one grows accustomed to the lifestyle of not being thanked or appreciated for the job/work they do when they fully embrace fatherhood. The gift(s) are the results years on down the road when they are all grown and living productive lives. The job we must do is a difficult one, but it is what it is. We do as we must simply because it's our responsibility and obligation to do so. Same goes, in respect to the business, we provide the services needed without the kudos, most require. Getting the job and doing it right is thanks enough!

From there it just continues to flow into other parts of your life. It has certainly cascaded into my business life. As I go from one event to another always playing a vital role or part in the event, but never really getting the spotlight or moment of appreciation one certainly warrants/deserves and needs to continue to grow as a business. In search of accolades expect zero as a freelancer for hire. A freelancer must blend in as one of the team immediately. I take one for the team as they say, constantly! Thankfully, I am always looking at the broader scope or bigger picture, so I've learned how to step back and let things just roll off my back. Just to be clear, I seek no attention or need to be cuddled and pampered, on the contrary, it's just a way of life. We are put here to play a role in life. I am blessed that I can play a number of roles when called upon. That is gift or compensation enough. The job of a Freelancer is not for the faint of heart! You must have a real thick skin. You must be able to generate your own hype as needed. You must be your own marketing. You must be your own advertising. As a Photographer, I see the usefulness of watermarks on their images. It serves the problem, incredibly. Letting people know who you are while not forcing the hand of anyone else to speak on your behalf is ideal. But how do you tagg something that isn't always tangible? These are the problems we hack daily and do so willingly.

As a Freelancer and a Dad, I salute all those Unsung Heroes out there making things happen with little if no affirmation or endorsement. Doing what they must to be an invaluable asset to their children. And, as well, sending LooVe especially to all our troops and veterans out there who are our real, everyday, Unsung Heroes. There's a time and place for everything, but we must always give thanks and show appreciation to such Heroes who fight and have fought for our freedoms. Let it be clear, I LooVe what I do and have been doing so, as a Freelancer, since 2008. That's a lot of years of helping others be all they can be and doing so flawlessly. That's what it is to be DPomalesCreative the Freelancer for hire. We service many industries with services such as Photography, Graphic Design, Branding and Marketing, just to name a few.
