Deception
#WritcoStoryPrompt8
The picture in the frame held a lot of memories. Some good, some sad. Her tired eyes roamed over it one last time before she tossed it in the fire. It was time to start afresh with anew to remove those tattered memories from her mind for each time she looked at it the old would suffice back to the surface leaving a taste of anguish she couldn't subside. Yes, it's time to get rid of that photo upon the mantle and replace it with the new found love that floods good memories in the fire front of her mind. You see that old picture was over crowded with a love she always thought was a reality she'd take with her everywhere she went sitting on Grandpa's lap sipping on his coffee as just a young lad. Oh the times she had as a young lad watching the adults play a game of cribbage. One of her Dad's favorites. It was a time where she felt loved and cared for. In the meantime during those times on Grandpa's lap when nobody was looking was the start of her innocence being taken without any recollection of it being wrong or out of the ordinary. After a while it was something she had become accustomed to. A game if you will because in her eyes it was cool that he trusted her with their little secret. As time went on she realized this wasn't love at all. It was unusual even that shouldn't have ever taken place. In her mind that's what love was until she found out different. You can only imagine the hurt and betrayal this little girl felt. As time went on she learned what love was through many failed attempts at relationships. Therapy soon started where she was able to express herself through me and of writing. A place where she began to learn who she was as a person and without the disguise of her Grandfather. Life took it's many tolls along the way but she always got back up, dusted herself off and went about her merry way. Then as time passed when she was ready to give up she met a new found love who helped her learn who she was as he helped her learn new coping mechanisms dealing with grief in a positive way. He accepted her for who she was this began the start of a beautiful relationship that's molded her into the person she is today.
