So among the millions and millions of species that ever existed, only few species were able to survive. Out of that few species only one dominated.
So how did we do that? When other species couldn't. Its because on a evolutionary aspect we our mind made a software program called the ego.

So the ego focuses on one thing. Survival. It focuces on three things to acheive survival. Food,sex and not be dead.
So back in those days humans had to hunt down food and with no refridgerators they ate what they had and there was a good chance they went out of food. So a brain without ego wont be focusing on food which will lead to death by hunger .
