I'd found love
It was a warm day in the woods
The trees protecting me with their hoods.
I watched my steps for leaves had fallen
This wasn't autumn for the rain was pouring.

I heard a rustle amidst my own, far but close
Pausing to listen before a path I chose
I was afraid, maybe too excited for my good
Soon a bear or lion might make me food.

The whirling rain had reduced to a drizzle
But "so help me God", my fear would sizzle
I ran away from home to be free
Free from the monster they could make me.

But as at this moment, I craved home
I wanted peace, maybe a place to own
I hated life but I didn't want to die
If life went on, then so would I

In a heartbeat I can run away from this
This death that stares at my eyes in bliss
To my surprise, I didn't go away,
No...I couldn't turn away.

Because after I'd heard a cry of pain
A cry for help, I knew we were both slain
We were both running... hiding in shame
It was a female, who had a name.

There! I saw her fair face In a tree up above
And then I knew... I knew I'd found love.
