Remembrance (Part 0) - A 'Between The Stars' Lore
"From whence have you come, creature?", a powerful voice echoed from the darkness. "It can't even make simple conversation. It is an unintelligible creature. Nothing to be made of or from. These things can't own. They have no concept. They are not.", another powerful voice condemned from above.
"The Peace Counsel agrees. The Il-Kamin have sole rights. The beasts are not a species of sentience and thus have no claim.", a tall grey haired man says confidently before sitting in his illuminated chair behind a large table. The ceiling of the huge room was barely visible. Another spot light engaged and perfectly framed a small, pale lump pasted to the rough floor below. The creature sat coiled in terror, hiding it's face from the monsters above. It shuttered and shook as it unsuccessfully tried to hide itself. It leaned over on all fours with hunched posture. Its pale skin was thinly veiled in hair. It certainly looked like an animal.
"This 'beast', as you call it, has shown its dominance over this planet. It is the pinnacle of the food chain. It has an organized society AND it registers on the MK scale. Yes, it is equipped with inate metakinesis! How many species in the entire galaxy register on the MK scale?!", another primal voice echoed from above the frail creature.
The thunderous bellows of the ancient beings arguing the fate of the species didn't seem to have any impact on the creature. Carelessly, and like an animal, it scratched at its neck with it back leg. The creature had gaunt, deep eyes. The whole of which were dark as the night skies.
"The Triumvirate has decided. The creatures are to be exterminated to make way for The Bloom." the first voice rang out again.
"This Triumvirate hasn't reached unanimity, Dagon!", the last voice angrily boomed.
"The Triumvirate has decided, Sarqon! You may not appeal! You may not object!", Dagon hissed from the darkness. The ceiling above groaned and creaked as it retracted back into the walls of the octagonal room. A faint trickle of dusklight illuminated the room enough for a few anonymous humans and three large winged beast to be revealed in the grandstand above. All humans beat a hasty retreat from the room. The final ceiling light disappeared into the rock taking with it all the illumination in the space. Then the whooshing of wind as the winged beast flew away.
