I AM BACK
I tossed on my bed from side to side, sleep was miles away. I recalled my habit since childhood, my sleep once broken, I could never ever put myself back to sleep.
I decided to take a warm bath. Uneasiness surged through me as I looked at the clock. It was two in the morning. I couldn't be bathing right now. A glass of wine would be better to relax me.
Moving through the dimly lit hallway, I made my way to the drawing room, where I had a small bar and picked up the wine bottle. The glistening liquid slid into my glass and I could feel the aroma.
I swallowed the wine and felt a sense of warmth inside my body.
As I was making my way back to the bedroom, I heard a low thumping sound, but ignored it. My eyelids grew heavy and I wanted to just drift off to sleep.
Suddenly the sound became louder and a wave of fear passed over me. I reached out for my mobile and was shocked, the battery was very low and the signals too were not good. I tried to look for my charger and then recalled that I had left it inside my car.
I would now have to go downstairs to get my charger but was feeling too sleepy and tired to move out of the house
I sat listening to the thumping sound. My heartbeat raced when I heard a clicking sound, someone had opened the main door of the flat. It was impossible, no one could possibly have access to my keys. I might have imagined the sound as I was too scared.
I had to gather my wits and get my charger. I searched my room for my car keys and suddenly realised that the sound became louder and closer.
Growing numb, I started staring at my bedroom door and without a second thought, I locked it from inside.
The silence echoed into my ears. Suddenly my mobile rang, exploding in my head and fell from my hands onto the floor.
I...
