The Fire God
#WritcoStoryChallenge
The old, treasure chest lay exposed when the storm retreated. He approached it wearily. It was exactly like he remembered it from his dream. Or maybe this was a dream too? But this time he was not going to be afraid.

The lock fell away from the chest when he touched it, effortlessly. He lifed the lid. The excess water flowed out and inside it, as in his dream, there it was. The mythical creature he killed out of fear each night in his dreams.

It looked like a large white parrot, except it was not white but made of fire. Fire that burned and glowed unhindered by the water surrounding it. It waited at the bottom of the sea of his unconscious for eons.

It was time for them to commune. He was still afraid but he was through killing it.

He took it in his hands and looked it in its ancient and ageless eyes. The fire did not burn but radiate warmth. He knew what he had to do this time.

He brought it close his chest and spoke the incantation he heard being whispered to him in his dreams.

"I accept the Fire God into my heart. Fire God will now dwell in me. I accept him consciously, wholeheartedly. We will never be apart. Whattever I will do, from now on, I will do it with passion and conviction."

His chest opened and the Fire God trapped for eons under the sea entered.

They were finally united.
