R.L.S.-Theft from Uncle Sam
I had previously worked for the local Mcdonalds during age 16-18. (2005-2007) Once I turned 18 I had moved out into an apartment with my girlfriend/ high school sweetheart at the time. She had graduated in 2006 and I was still in school. I basically lived on my own during my final year in highschool. I had quit Mcdonalds which was only paying 5.15 an hr and had applied for a job at the local “Turnpike plaza " Let me explain for those who don't know what that is. The Turnpike is basically a giant interstate that runs from NY to Eastern United States. The only differences being are: 1. You can drive 60-85 mph 2. You must pay to get on and off. (kinda like a hooker in a way lol) Anyway.. Along the I90/I80 they have “service plazas" about every 25-50 miles. At these “plazas" they contain Trucker showers, Restrooms, game rooms, convenience stores, Starbucks, Burgerking, Sabaros, and usually 2-3 more dining/fast food type places. The Turnpike was orginaly built for our Army during WW2. Many of the plazas had fattout shelters and had tunnels that would go from side to side. (each plaza had 2 plazas, one for each road I80 which headed towards Chicago and I90 which headed towards NY. ) I have many stories about my years there, but we will save those for a different time. Sadie was my Girlfriends name at the time. She did work for nursing homes. Basically and STNA. She had been on my ass about worrying about the bills. I was already going to school from 7:45 to 2:45 and heading to work after. The Turnpike was offering 6.50 and hr at the time and seemed great for a high schooler. At first, is was just 2-3 days after school and Saturday/Sunday on midnights. I was trained in burger king, but I didn't want anything to do with cash register. In my opinion most of the customers were assholes. I was told because midnight only had 2 workers, that I'd be learning the cash register. To be honest it wasn't hard, but you felt a sense of “pressure" with cameras above you and I watched them “walk out" people when drawers came up short. There's only 1-3 reasons a register would come up short. 1. was miscalculation. 2. was because you either gave out too much change or a bill was left behind (we dropped anything bigger than a $10 in our drop safe. 3. was Theft. For most people the...
