HUMILITY
Humility is an act of being humble. The word "humble" is a lifestyle and character every man is meant to portray. It is meant to be pattern and lifestyle of every man. But it is so sad that, many knows the meaning but few have this lifestyle in them.
It take grace for a man to humble himself. Do you know what it take for a man to humble himself, for a man to stoop low and kill the pride in him?
Do you know that, our not being able to humble ourselves do restrain us from doing and getting something in one way or the other either from God or man. James 4:10 says "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." That is, if you did not humble yourself before God, He will not lift you up. 2Chronicles 7:14 says "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
I have seen few men that have this attribute. And one thing I have ever noticed in them is that, it is not easy for them but because they know what it means to be humble, and they also have who they are looking up to. They have the pattern and lifestyle of who they want to look like. So, they humble themselves with joy.
So, for us to be able to humble ourselves, we have to follow this same pattern. I bring to you today a man who humble himself till death according to Philippians 2:8 "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." You may be asking, who is this man? This man is Jesus Christ. He is the only one who had ever humble himself till death.
Men that i have seen that have been trying to humble themselves, this is the man they are looking up to. They all believe that, if Jesus can do it. They can do it also. I bring to you the only way we can humble ourselves today. Believe me, humility is a thing of joy.
Let me show you some of the thing God does to people who humbled themselves. James 4:6 "But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." Luke 18:14 "I tell you, for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted."
You see being humble is not that easy but it is easy. For you to be humble, you have to kill your pride. The only way you can kill your pride is through Christ Jesus. 1 Peter 5:6 "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:" but how can you humble yourself under God mighty hand if you are not in him?
He will be the one to guide you on every step. He will bring to your remembrance what you ought to do every now and then and will help you to kill your flesh daily via the studing of the bible, praying and following every guidelines and patterns of Jesus. Hebrews 12:2 says "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
For us to be able to also attain this level, we have to humble ourselves. But remember, humbling oneself is like a sacrifice. You will have to endure a lot of thing.
