THE SHROUD

" Following the reports on the demise of Late Tejumola Abiola, a freshman in the University of Ilorin who was murdered but staged as a suicide at his apartment in the previous week, The detective- in- charge, Mr. Thomas Rotimi has summoned four ladies believed to be murder suspects for questioning at Kuluso Police Station to wrap up the ongoing investigation on the mystery surrounding the death of Late Tejumola Abiola ."

Narrators' epigram

My name is howling owl. Your gossip plug turned narrator. Grab your cola and popcorn as I will be taking you on a ferry ride on the shades and shapes of 'situationships'( love triangles) and friendships. The saying ‘ those who live in a glass house should not throw stones’ seems obsolete yet applicable in this fictional fantasy. But, we hope to use Cinderella’s glass slippers as a lamp in this tunnel. The big question is who is the shroud and what is the shroud?

CHAPTER ONE

CAN WE MEET YOU?

DAY ONE: Kuluso Police Station, 20th April 2018, 8:00 am

Ruth’s P.O.V

Ruth Wilson is my name. To my foster parents, I’m their easy-going baby girl and I don’t give a damn about the gossip in my locality that says otherwise.

My childhood days weren't a smooth ride. It had a lot of rough edges which shaped my ideologies and my worldviews as I grew up.

The horrific memories of losing my biological parents to a fire outbreak at a tender age and the need to put up with the thorns in my flesh to make a headway seem overwhelming.

As a freshman in Unilorin, it has been a rollercoaster ride, I mean, meeting people from different backgrounds. some were simply lackeys and naïve to the stark realities of life. Some became charity cases and asslickers to rich kids in school, asslicking their way to the top.

Cynthia's P.O.V

My name is Cynthia Coker. I'm a daddy's girl who won't tolerate any slander against my father. I lost my mum to diabetes at the age of ten.

From that day, My health and well-being became my father's priority, he ensures that I eat healthy meals, attend my workout sessions, etc.

My dad is my best friend, I love him so much that I always pray that I will be able to repay the kindness, love, and support he showered me.

I love to visit new places, meet new people, engage in productive conversations, and live my life to the fullest. I loathe rude, unapologetic, and dishonest people.

Tomiwa's P.O.V

I'm Tomiwa Omotosho, I came from a middle-class family of five. We encountered challenges and hardships ranging from setbacks as regard catering to our basic needs. In my high school days, My siblings and I were perpetual latecomers.

We were always covered in sweat after the daily tedious routine of pushing the rickety BMW family car around the neighborhood before it could convey us to school. We were given pennies that could barely sustain us till the school closing hours. We trekked miles due to insufficient transport fares.

Fortune smiled on my family in 2010 when my parents got promoted as Directors in the Ministry of Information, bought new cars, moved into our new apartment, and my siblings and I had to change schools. I'm an easygoing person, an introvert who loves to write and bake. I despise social butterflies and dumb conversations.

Rita's P.O.V

I'm Rita Adepelu also known as Madam Kofoshi ( a no-nonsense woman). A jovial, simple with a touch of Gbasgbos(dramatic) personality.

Dishonesty and acting insecure are my dealbreakers. I have zero tolerance for know-it-alls, attention seekers, and wannabes.

I don't force friendships and I give my two cents unapologetically to anyone who steps on my shadow or overstays his/her welcome. I love to give to society, but I detest greed. I'm a go-getter who is never afraid to give her all in all spheres of life. I love to paint the town rainbow.

I came from a wealthy family of seven and I had to put up with all shades of turmoil from family issues, relatives' wahala( troubles), and gold diggers' palava( troubles).
