My lonely princess
Once upon a time, there was a lonely princess. She was a princess so lonely, she had only trees and flowers for friends. She lived in a palace surrounded by miles and miles of gardens and meadows. She had priceless gems for jewels and the choicest of clothes to choose from. She was wise and loving and caring and kind, but she was all alone, without any friends. Her parents, the king and queen stayed in a land far away and she was left in the vigilance of servants of the palace. The beautiful princess loved the palace and everything within it, from the grasses layered on the lawn outside to the berry plants that lined the gardens. She loved the little animals that peered at her through the grasses and the shade of the silver trees that grew all around the palace. She was mesmerized by all the beauty around her and yet; that was the only thing that kept her company. She felt all alone in the huge palace and wanted someone with whom she could share her thoughts and feelings, her mind and her secrets, her fears and her dreams, her ambitions and hopes. She wanted someone to be her friend and she hoped that friend would stay with her forever and be steadfast in friendship and be a companion in all her feats.

Everyone of us is the princess. We all crave for a friend who will be a friend in times of need. Who checks upon us once in a while. Who doesn't let go of us with passing time. Who is loyal and true and values us as much as we value them. Who can be as true to us as we could be to ourselves. Someone who doesn't let us fall. Someone who doesn't let us falter. Someone who guides and supports and takes care of us as if he/she is me and I am he/she. Someone who isn't jealous of our achievements and honours and considers our victory as theirs and our defeat as theirs. Someone who loves, protects and understands every emotion we are going through. Someone who gets us and we get them. Someone who celebrates friendship with us and keeps us very close to their heart.

I am the princess who yearns for that friend. I am sure you may be too. If you aren't, then you are lucky that you already have a best friend for life.. or that you have learned to live without yearning for one.
