Odisha story series part I: A lost battle - Puri.
While Odias were busy fighting over the origin of Rosogolla and Chhenapoda, Bengalis decided to take Puri by surprise.

Puri is one of the key places of Odisha and I believe contributes a decent percentage to the Odisha Tousrism. But Puri has changed a lot in the recent times. It's nothing like what I can remember from the last time I was there. Puri has started losing its Odia roots in the race of drawing in as many tourists as possible. More than half of the people speak in Bengali. All big restaurants advertise 'Authentic Bengali Food' instead of Odia platter.

When I goto any new place, I search for their local food. To my surprise, I couldn't find any around our hotel. Not a single restaurant that serves authentic odia food in a 3km radius. It breaks my heart. Italian, Chinese, Bengali, fast-food joints serving pizza, burger, wraps and rolls. No one cares about aloodum-dahivada. Dal-bhaat, biriyani, noodles. And again, no one cares about pakhala.

*If my life resembled a pizza, these stories would be a slice each. I present to you #slicesfrompizzanilife a story series.*
