From Promise to Pentecost
Pentecost comes from the word 'fiftieth' and refers to a christian festival celebrated on the 50th day following another festival called the Passover which is celebrated every year.

It is on this day that the Holy Spirit was outpoured to the new church and just few days after the crucifixtion and resurection of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Holy Bible.

The Holy Spirit, promised by Jesus, came upon His followers as they were asked to stay together in one accord in Jerusalem and wait.

A sound was heard from heaven and then came a mighty rushing wind. From this, Tongues of Fire appeared and was distributed and settled on each of them.
They started speaking and giving glory to God almighty in different languages as the Spirit was giving them utterance and ability to speak.

Upon the preaching of Peter the Apostle on that particular day, almost three thousand people coming from different surrounding countries, gave their lives to Jesus proclaiming Him to be their Saviour and accepting the gift of Salvation through repentance and water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ.

Apostle Peter confirmed that the promise for receiving the Holy Spirit is for us and for our children, and to and for all those that are far away all around the world and to and for as many as the Lord God invites to come to Himself.

The Bible records that those who were baptized and persevered in communion and prayers had a sign of reverential fear of God in them and many signs, wonders and miracles followed from that day onward.

The promise Jesus made is still valid today. One can still experience the same Fire that burnt in the heart of those who experienced it 2000 years ago.

We dont have to wait for every year to celebrate Pentecost but real Pentecost can be experienced and celebrated everyday in our hearts and in our lives.

He who made the promise is the one who keeps the promise and His name is Faithful.
