1 What is Narcissism- The term narcissism originated from the Roman poet Ovid’s Metamorphoses (Book III) in the first century story of Narcissus and Echo, and much later evolved into a highly specialized psychoanalytic term. As per the Oxford dictionary, the word "narcissist" means a person who admires himself or herself too much, especially their appearance.

2 What is Narcissistic Personality Disorder- The word narcissist behavior is juggled around a lot in our self-love or the person who is fully included in their self. But in psychological language, the person who is in love with an idealized, grandiose image of themselves suffers from NPD. They love their image because it helps them run away from their own insecurity. But popping up with their delusion of grandeur takes a lot of work and that is where dysfunctional attitudes and behavior pop in. But not every narcissist has the narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), as narcissism is a spectrum. People who are at the highest end of the spectrum are considered to suffer from NPD. NPD is often accompanied by other psychiatric disorders and can be difficult to treat. If people do not receive the necessary guidance and treatment, NPD can lead to suicidal ideation.
