Chapter 6 continued
The dragon flapped its wings, causing hundreds of birds in the surrounding forest to take flight all at once. The air filled with flapping and squawking, and then there was silence. Alexa looked around for something, anything that could protect her. And then she spotted a fairy. She was dressed like a purple flower, she was gorgeous, and she was fluttering around Tess. The fairy could wait till later, she thought. And then she realized something, she was surrounded by trees, and was facing a fire breathing monster. She had a plan. Dashing forward, she picked up a stick, screaming at the dragon, "Come get me, you big sack of teeth and scales!" Enraged, the beast blew fire at her, but she was quicker. She dodged and started running in a circle around the dragon. The dragon blew fire all around. Finally exhausted, she finished trapping the dragon in his own fire. Then she threw the stick at the dragon, hoping it would take the bait. It did. Roaring in anger and despair when it found itself surrounded by fire, the dragon took flight, catching the stick in its teeth. Alexa smiled. After she had picked up the stick, she had realized it was a snake. The dragon had just eaten a deadly wood snake. The dragon, in pain and agony, flew away, spreading the fire as his wings flapped and blew on the fire. It looked back once, directly at her, this wasn't over the look said, and she knew the dragon would be back to hunt and kill her. Tess she thought running to where tress lay with the fairy. Tess was sitting up and it looked as though her leg and head had been totally healed in the two minutes since she had last seen her.
"She should be alright, although there are no lasting effects, she should still get some sleep."said the fairy.
*I'm a nature spirit, not a fairy.*she said, well her mouth didn't move. She kind of thought in Alexa's head.
*Nature spirits can talk into and read minds. My name is Violet. I'm a healer and nature giver.*
"A nature giver?"she asked aloud. Courtney looked at Alexa with concern.
"What did you say?"
Alexa turned red, embarrassed, " Nothing."
*A nature giver is someone who can magically grow and heal plants. I also dabble in a few other things like juggling and and making pesky people who ask too many questions shut up."
Alexa instantly quieted her next ten questions.
*I'm joking, darling. Why does nobody get my jokes. It's almost like people expect me to be mean, like I'm too awesome to be true.*
That was kind of true Alexa thought.
*Let's go inside, I want to interrogate you guys. As a nature giver you have destroyed nature by burning down these trees, so I have to arrest you.* Seeing the look on Alexa's face, she quickly reassures her,*I'm kidding, I'm kidding. I already told you, I have sense of humor. It doesn't help that no one understands it.*
Then she flew toward a hut that magically appeared. Turning around, Alexa saw that Violet had already put out the fire, and had healed all the trees. Everyone's has a talent but me she thought. I'm not good at anything. Courtney can write, Tess is totally positive, Violet can do magic, and I can make messes that others like Tess get injured from. And with that glum thought, she headed toward the hut, totally oblivious of the watchful eyes, watching from behind a bush.
"She will be very useful." came a voice from the bush. But Alexa was already inside and didn't hear a thing.
