Unfathomable Attachment (Part 1)
Hera’s Point of View

Here’s everything I know about life: People are selfish. They think of themselves too much that they don’t remember the day you fart in a crowd. The most embarrassing moment you have – is surely nothing to them. Really, it’s just us making our lives miserable with our valued negative thoughts.
Not long have I learnt this fact. I started not to care since then. I can always choose how to react.

A month ago, my mother enrolled me in a boarding school. I ironically agreed as she declared living in a city to the “best experience.” It’s not that I’m ungrateful. I mean, it’s a city! Tall buildings, and more advanced technologies than in this provincial life. It’s just this whole boarding school is more about her than it is about me. I love the life I have here. I love the silence at night, and the birds that sing every morning.
My mother is a campus dean in one of the universities here in our province. It is in town. See, she doesn’t want me in her school. What an unconfident woman, sending her child to other school.
About my father, he is always not around. I mean he is a seaman. We can only see him for a short period of time.
Anyway the enrollment was done online, and I can’t believe my mother had the application form filled in herself. No wonder she gave me a lame excuse for using my computer, and I don’t need to tell what. Now, I only had a month before departure.
I roll myself in my white comforter. I’m going to miss this room. I was all depressed with this issue, so as to stay sane – I grab my phone and earphones and went back yard. I listened to MJ’s “One Day in Your Life.” It’s always been my favorite song.
I saw the mini gate which leads to the forest. Yes, behind this house is a forest. I have never been there since forever. One thing before I go, I will walkout that gate.
I opened the rusty gate, and with its creepy sound – I enter the forest. I am taking my steps, not knowing where these would lead me. For few minutes, the way brings me to a big lime stone. Behind it is a cave of mosses. I am curious on what does it has on the inside – I enter the cave.
Despite its constriction, I open my phone’s torch to light my way. I won’t deny, I feel scared. Yet, I choose to step forward as Bear Grills once said, “In every journey, the first step is often the hardest.” I have nervy mind so this is some kind of adventure to me.
A distance ahead – I saw a light, though its covered with vines, I knew it’s an open space. I took the remaining few steps, and finally go to the other side – backward.
I twist around to discover a place full of wild flowers. They are of different colors and sizes. It seems to be magical. I explore the place, and get my phone to take pictures. I was like that when I saw someone sitting on the grass. He is looking at me.
I cross the path to come to him. I smile awkwardly. “I was just wandering when I saw this place. It’s beautiful so I took some pictures. I apologize if I bother you or something.” The guy gazes at me as if he is puzzled. “Are you talking to me?” This is what I hate about some of the people in this planet – they ask the obvious. I pretend not to care, but really do. My brows signal the affirmative.
He smiles and quickly does stand. “Wait – do you see me?” A question full of enthusiasm. “Yeah. You look –” I observe his appearance. “Old fashioned.” I remark dryly.
The first thing I notice is his hair – it’s the first thing I look at in everyone. It’s black and messy. He is wearing a loose denim pants and a loose white T-shirt with Presley’s face printed. His black leather shoes make his total appearance the weirdest.
His eyes twinkle stars. It makes him look weirder than he already is. “You do really see me? You hear me? And, you’re serious right?” I swear to Gaia this guy is insane. I force smile. “Yeah. Am I seeing someone I am not supposed to?” His smile fades. I gaze his feet. No shadow. My heart thump thump thumps in my chest. “Are you a g – ghost?”
He smiles awkwardly as to confirm my assumption. I stop breathing. I am seeing a ghost. I am seeing a freaking ghost! And before I knew it, my vision went black.
