I finished reading the last couple of pages of the first novel I had grabbed from the library and closed the book. It wasn't to bad but it wasn't something I would read again. I was also surprised it took me as long to read as it did. Normally I would finish a novel in a day or two but atleast it was finally finished. There was knock at the door and sat up on the edge of the bed. The door opened and a haughty looking Cat walked in. I was surprised as she just casually looked at the room and snorted. "So this is how a pet lives." I heard a couple of giggles and noticed three other women standing at the door entrance. My heart raced a little realising I was trapped in the room. She looked at me disgustedly. "I don't see it to be honest." She said as she looked me up and down. I shifted on the bed uncomfortably and stood up. Cat took a couple of steps towards me and looked from her to the door and back again. She smiled nastily at me."Oh your not getting out of here through there..." She tilted her head slightly and raised her eyebrows. "But the balcony could always be an option." I stepped away from the bed starting to feel frightened. She moved quickly and stood right in front of me. She reached down and grabbed my wrist hard, sneering at me. "If I can't have Alec then you certainly won't have him." She grabbed a handful of my hair and yanked my head back hard. I felt her bite down hard on my neck and screamed. It felt like her teeth were shredding the flesh on my throat. I tried to pull back but she held me in place firmly. Everything started to swim as I heard the woman laughing at the door. My knees started to buckle as my throat started to burn from the inside where she held onto me. Dark spots appeared in my vision as my body slowly went numb and everything turned fuzzy. Suddenly she was gone. I waited to hit the ground but instead arms encircled me. They lifted me gently as I heard rushed voices speaking. My eyes closed of their own accord and I let the darkness take me with it.

Concerned, whispering voices started to drift in through the darkness as I tried to open my eyes. "Alec's on a war path at the moment when he should be here..." A soft snort followed. "You should see Lucus... If either of them get their hands on Cat or the others they won't be living much longer. I've never seen Lucus or Alec like this..." A more familiar voice closer to me piped up. "Gentlemen...Her heart beat." I heard steps move towards me and tried harder to open my eyes. "Keaton, go get Alec... She's waking." I heard a door open quickly then close. I frowned as I pushed to open my heavy eyes. They felt bruised and unwilling. "Sshh, Miss don't push yet, Alec is coming..." The door flew open. "Out! Now!" Alec's voice was harsh, but I heard feet moving away from me anyway. "Alec...Your not the only worried remember..." I heard him growl as the door closed.

A hand gently lifted mine and I felt lips gently brush my forehead. "You can open your eyes if you want..." He said softly. I tried again to open them and they slowly opened. Everything was still blurry as I tried to focus. My eyes wouldn't let me so I closed them again. "I'm so sorry Evelyn..." He sounded so sad. I forced my eyes open again to look at him. They slowly focused and I could see his face clearly. "It's..." He cringed when I flinched at trying to talk. The pain was instant and sharp in my neck. I almost wanted to cry. I reached my hand up slowly to his face and rested it against his cheek. He looked at me and sighed. He gently slid me over on the bed and lay down next to me, pulling me to him. I snuggled in against him feeling drained and exhausted. He held me tightly and I closed my eyes feeling safe in his arms. I let myself drift back off to sleep wrapped up in his scent.

I don't know how long I slept, but when I woke Alec wasn't next to me. I sat up slowly and looked around the room. It was Alec's room. I spotted someone sitting back in the chair with their eyes closed. "Staring is rude you know..." Keaton lifted his head and smiled at me as he opened his eyes. I couldn't help but smile back at him. He stood from the chair and walked over to the bed, sitting down on the edge of it. He took my hand and surveyed me closely. "How do you feel?" He looked concerned. "I...It still hurts a little to talk..." I managed to get out. "Here try this." He handed me a glass with water in it. I carefully took a sip and handed it back to him. Swallowing was painful but bareable. "Thank you..." He nodded. "Where's Alec?" He smiled. "Both him and Lucus' are taking turns at torturing Cat. It seems that concern for your welfare is the first thing that my two brothers have been able to bond over since before I was born." My eyes widened a little in a panic. "You need to understand Evelyn, our world is cruel and ruthless, even if you and Alec didn't...
