Remembrance (Part 1) - A 'Between The Stars' Lore
"We can't allow them to be exterminated!", Ter screamed. The pain in his cry resounded through the tide of people. But they were not free. They couldn't speak out. Many of them choose to simply closed their eyes to the carnage before them. The savage beasts ripped and tore at the rocky earth below them. Hissing and snapping their maws at the mere scent of the prey. The spindly whitish creatures hid deep within the cave for safety. There weren't many of them left since the last raid. The final hope of their species. Only the individuals in the caves. The beasts had conquered this whole planet and the dozen or so others that these thin aliens had held within weeks of the first onslaught. Ironic though, the winged scaled beasts had themselves emerged from cave systems on the alien's worlds. Only to become exponentially more numerous and strong within days. The thin white aliens were overrun and overmatched almost instantly.
"The Il-Kamin have an ancestral right to this planet. The Dvon only inhabited this world for a few centuries while The Il-Kamin have been here for many millennia. If they want the invaders exterminated then there's nothing we can do to stop them.", the grey haired man at the center of the table broke the silence. "Ter is a traitor to his people and the peace in the local sector. This counsel will not heed the words of a traitor." the wrinkled man continued. The winged reptiles continued to claw ever deeper into the earth, scratching out boulders larger than men and tossing them aside like pebbles. The dragons snapped and clawed at each other for a chance to bury their heads inside the dirt and snatch up a juicy pale meal from the caverns.
"To create and grow peace, huh?!" Ter exclaimed. "This 'Peace Counsel' is anything but. Cowards and hypocrites. Allowing the genocide of race after race to 'grow peace'! You're all slaves of the reptiles!" Ter admonished.
"That's enough!", a tall woman at the end of the table stood and yelled. "This is the twelfth species, Hafti! Ter is right! When does it end?! Are we going to sit by while these beasts destroy everything in the galaxy?! While we ALLOW them to destroy everything?!", the woman cried.
"We are no match for them, Yibi! We couldn't stop them if we wanted to! There is a natural order to everything, we must adapt or die!", the old man finally stood up and revealed the truth.
"I motion to disband the Peace Counsel permanently.", another man at the table said quietly.
"I second that motion." Ter said quickly.
"Third.", the tall woman followed.
"You realize this will have great negative repercussions for our people! We'll be consumed!", Hafti brushed away his grey hair from his face as he protested.
"The Peace Counsel has been disbanded." another voice chimed in.
"Now, let's get down there and stop these ravenous beasts before we lose another precious species!", Yibi yelled victoriously. The people gathered their things and headed for the nearest exit.

"Reptile food! All of you! You're all dead!", Hafti yelled furiously at the crowd.
