"Keir.." Ashfur said in a choked voice. "Baby. What's wrong?" Keiran asked. "Basil got out through the fence.. She got hit." Ashfur sobbed. "I'm on my way home." Keiran said. Ashfur buried his face into Basil's beautiful golden fur. "I can't loose another dog Bas, I can't." He said. The vet sighed. "We can give her antibiotics for the pain but there's very slim chance that she'll make a full recovery, where she was hit, it's life-threatening." He said. Ashfur stared at him. "So what? We just put her down?" Ashfur asked, scoffing. "Unfortunately we would have to." He said. Ashfur looked into Basil's gorgeous eyes. "Then I want her cremated and I want her paw print and you better believe your asses that I will sue this hospital and get you all fired." Ashfur spat. "Y-Yes Sir." He said. Keiran rubbed his husband's back soothingly. "Her ashes will take 1-4 days to come back to us." He said. Ashfur glared at him. "I'm aware, I've done this before." He snarled. "I'm sorry." He muttered. Ashfur growled. Keiran ran his hand through Ashfur's grey flecked hair. He looked at him. "I don't want to go through this again.. I can't go through this again. How about we just get rid of them all that way we don't have to deal with death?" Ashfur asked chuckling bitterly. "You love them and you know that.. Death is a part of life. Yeah it sucks but the pain will lessen, yeah you will never forget her just like you never forgot Kari, we'll put her ashes in her urn and they'll earn a special spot beside Kari's okay?" Keiran asked. Ashfur nodded, his husband was right, he always was. "Fine. I want to be in the room with her, just like I was with Kari and I want you to be there. Please." Ashfur said. Keiran nodded. "I promise I'll be there for you. I'll always be there." He said. "Her breeder said that any puppy is free to us because of Basil." Keiran said. Ashfur nodded. "Does she only breed Goldens?" He asked. Keiran shook his head. "No, she's got huskies, German Shepherds, Australian Shepherds and many more breeds." Keiran said. Ashfur nodded. "You just don't know that many dog breeds." He teased. "Hey! I'm not a dog expert or anything." Keiran said. Ashfur laughed, Keiran was glad that he brought his husband's mood up.
