Lost Childhood 5
Sara was a caregiver who had been introduced to them by the Rodriguez family; she was Consuela Rodriguez’s niece. Serafina was her birth name but she preferred to be called Sara. She said it allowed her to fit in better with her friends.

She didn’t like the idea of having to leave Columbia along with all of her friends but when her family decided to move so that her father could help his brother run the new family business, she really had no other choice. At the time she was only a junior in high school.

Her boyfriend promised to join her after graduation; he would come and work for her family so they could be together. Jorge really loved Serafina; they had been what you would call a couple ever since junior high. They were always together and her family had gotten use to having him around and had become very fond of him.

That had been five years ago and things were not working out as they expected or had planned. They continued to keep in touch with each other, but life for Jorge in Columbia was not easy nor going how they both wanted. It would be at least what looked like another five years before he would be able to leave the country.

He had made a deal with some businessmen in Bogotá. They promised to teach him how to be successful in the business of selling electrical equipment and other materials in order for him to become an entrepreneur. They were not sure how much they would be able to teach him in just five years but he said that he was willing to learn whatever he could.

Jorge worked long hours and rapidly was becoming very knowledgeable and proficient in his trade. He was very well known for being able to get his assignments done in a very timely manner. Upper management had begun to ask for him by name. He had also started to receive numerous jobs outside of of the city. Within a year he was also traveling on business trips to neighboring countries.
