I know you are thinking that this story is about devotion,the love towards god.
But is it really the just love,nothing more?

Before being devotee, you need to know yourself. You need to know your actual existence. your real identity is not your physical body,its your soul.
In other words, your conciousness is your soul.

You are inscribed in a life cycle of births and deaths in different bodies.
But your soul remains the same.
You should feel special that,among uncountable creatures, you have taken birth as a human.

The ultimate goal of every soul is to get joined into the supreme soul(God)
by gaining the real knowledge.
To gain real knowlegde you need to remove every unnatural elements from your mind (greed,lust,attachment).

And lastly, you should learn the fact perfectly that"everything is god,god is everything".
We are a part of god,but we dont have awareness about it.

So the first goal of a human is to know itself and others as a part of god.When everything is god,nothing is none.
