“Death has a strange way of coming back to us, but not always in the way we expect.
They say a dream takes only a second or so, and yet in that second we can live a lifetime. We can suffer and die, and who's to say which is the greater reality: the one we know, or the one that's unexplained.
The two people you are about to meet are caught up in a nightmare where death just took an alternative route...a route that only leads into the "Twilight Zone."
It was pitch black. The long stretch of black asphalt faded into the storm as the pounding rain was absorbed into gusts of thunder and wind. A dim, faint light appeared in the distance, approaching, growing larger. It was a car nearing the fork in the highway slowly coming to a stop. An image of a girl wearing a heavy raincoat neared the car, closing in until she stopped, blinded by the headlights.
A front window rolled down. Cupping his hands around his face Jason squinted his eyes.
"Need a ride?" No response. Again, "Hey," raising his voice, "do you need a ride?" No response. "If you don't want a ride, then get the hell out of the way," rolling his window up.
She instantly appears at his window, lowering her face with her piercing eyes staring through the glass. She holds up a small piece of paper; 'I need a ride.'
Cracking the window he told her to get in.
She closes the door behind her, peeling off her soaked raincoat.
"I'm Jason, where ya headed?"
