Superpowers
She often dreamed of having superpowers. She wanted to have them, especially after watching so many movies on superheroes. She wanted to be different. Hardly she knew that she was.
One day, Anna tried to lift the heavy log of wood on the lawn infront of her house. It was a bright sunny day. But she couldn't tolerate the bright rays of sun. She was somehow scared that she'd be burned by those. So, she cautiously tried to avoid it, while concentrating on the piece of wood lying on the grass.
Her father was a school teacher and he often tripped on the lawn due to the log lying there. He would inattentively walk and stumble over it but he never tried to remove it. She had asked him once, about it. But, he had nonchalantly ignored her. Therefore, she decided to take matters into her own hands. After all, she was already five, and quite a grown up girl.
Anna used to attend night school but during the day, she got a tough home schooling from her father. She lost her mother when she was born. She heard that her mother was special. She knew magic. But being her daughter, Anna felt she knew nothing.
The young girl tried to remove the log, but in vain. So, she sat infront of it, closed her eyes and whispered to it, innocently.
"Oh dear Woody! I hate it that my father constantly hurts himself because of you and his carelessness. I'm sure you get hurt too. So, I want you to shift from here. Why don't you become a tree and stay with us? Maybe at one corner of the lawn?" As soon as she said this, the log of wood vanished. She opened her eyes, half expecting the wood to actually turn to a tree. But, she was astonished when she couldn't see the wood. She got scared and ran inside the house. There was a new tree at one corner of their lawn, smiling at the silly girl.
At last, her superpowers weren't hidden from her, anymore. She could just say something whatever she wanted in her mind, and the work would be done. It took her some time to realise that it was real. After all, she was her mother's daughter. She had to be special.
