The Murderous Mirror Pt.15
Luna

6:20 pm - She placed her hand on the cold door handle. She pushed through into the black abyss of the house. As soon as she walked through the door there were goosebumps and long hairs perking up on her skin. Luna then heard footsteps walking towards the light switch next to the couch in the living room. She didn't realize how long her eyes had been straining until she felt the burn of the light. When the blurriness of her vision had gone away she saw her mother standing in pink ruffly pants with a black silk tank top and a black sweater.
"Where were you?" The mother asked vindictively
"I went to visit Annabelle, you know my best friend who almost died"
"I'm sorry Luna"
Still not receiving the answer she wanted and also not finished Luna continued.
"You're sorry?" It was a question still getting full of rage. "You can't possibly be sorry. You left for a work trip. Somebody else could've gone!. You could've stayed here and helped your daughter. But instead you left!"
Tears started to swell in her mother's eyes. But not in Lunas, in Lunas eyes it was pure flame like the fire that burns in the center of the world.
"Luna please calm down. I'm here now. So let's talk, sit on the couch and eat some ice cream."
She reached for Luna's hand but the flame was already an ill looking violet. Luna grabbed a coat from the closet and reached for the door once again but this time it was to leap into another abyss. But before she could go she had to say one more thing.
"Goodbye for now mom. I'm going to Ben’s for the night. Hope that's enough time for me to forgive you."
Then she slammed the door and left.

She threw the jacket on and ran into the car to greet Ben.
“Drive,” she said.
And he drove. He didn't ask any questions, clearly hearing the conversation from outside. He also did not speak wanting to comfort Luna instead of filling her half glass full cup of rage anymore.

--------------------

They went back to a place they dreaded. To a place that made them scared. But they went back to see if she could still be saved.
Both of them hopped out of the car and shared worrying glances at one another not knowing what they were walking into.
“Here goes nothing” Said for a second time in one day
Ben walked in first. Then Luna. There was no longer a pot of roadkill stew on the dining table. And the stench that had filled their noses earlier had disappeared. So they walked in further, closing the door only slightly in case they needed to escape. What they saw calmed them and even soothed them to some degree. Ben's mother was sleeping on the couch. So they walked closer then when Ben stepped off of the hardwood floor of the dining room to the carpet of the living room the floor underneath him squeaked and woke up his mom.
