The choices I made in my life
in this city

Growing up was tough, I always had to make my own decisions and it wasn't easy. Losing my sister, then my dad, and a few cousins along the way, made me realize that life is short and unpredictable. I had to learn to take care of my family and never let them down. I believe that God has a plan for all of us, and if I didn't trust in that plan, I wouldn't be where I am today. I could have ended up in prison or worse, dead on the streets. My father's warning about doing good or facing a life behind bars came true when I ended up in jail and then prison. But it wasn't until my son asked me why I was there that I realized I needed to make a change. I left everything behind, including my family and a good girl who I know I hurt with my actions. If I could go back in time, I would cherish all the good moments we shared. But I come from Boyle Heights, East LA, a tough neighborhood where sorry doesn't always cut it. I was born and raised in this city, but I had to leave to clear my soul and start a new chapter in my life.
