Ruby Meets The Devil pt. 1
Rain hits the streets with clamor, as I run through it trying not to get too soaked. Standing under the awning to wring my clothes out as much as I can, I notice the bookstore is unusually busy today. Looking through the window, I see a line at the register, multiple people down multiple aisles and small groups standing around. I also noticed I'm wringing my clothes out on my, now more soaked, wet shoes. Great. Finishing up my drying cycle, I walk through the door, and I see it. Sapphire Marie's new book: A Door Through The Decades. I shrugged by the groups, hearing everyone talk about the new book. Personally, she's not a favorite author of mine, but I see the appeal. I get to the back where there's a lot less people. Keeping my eyes focused on my destination, I almost missed the guy standing next to the wall.
" 'Scuse me" I say quietly, but I guess he heard me because he stepped aside, putting his back to the wall to let me by. I bundle up in the modern forest green chair in the corner. Pop my headphones in for a little instrumental soundtrack to calm my nerves, and pull out a book of my own.

Looking around, seeing all these people…
" 'Scuse me". A small voice, almost a whisper floats by me, and I barely have time to register the petite girl it came from before she's gone. I turn around, but she's already disappeared into the crowd. I lost her. I inhale deeply…but I smell her. I follow her scent, a sweet lavender and honey filled aroma, that leads me to the back of the bookstore.
