I read it once, then twice. I wasn't imagining it - I had won the lottery!
I jumped and forgot my leg hurt. I fell holding my leg and the short lived pain left so I enjoyed the reality of my success. Mother came through the door with a tray.
MOTHER:What on earth are you doing down there? (Helps me stand after placing tray on table)
CADOC: You wouldn't believe what just happened right now. (Suspicious face of Mother)
MOTHER: let me guess, you caught the imaginary phoenix like you said you would?
CADOC: No...way better.
MOTHER: That the green eyed girl you like in class finally waved you today?
CADOC:No...the lottery...I won it!
MOTHER: Woah really...maybe it's a fake. I thought you're a cursed boy(laughs)
CADOC:(After pause)Yeah...I think it's a fake. (I know it's not a fake...I get to keep the money all to myself...hihihi.)
MOTHER:You now have breakfast and quit jumping around. You can't play Ice hockey with your leg like that. (there's a knock on the door) let me get that.
CADOC:Like some mysteriously enchanting lady in my class would show up to see how my leg is. (sighs)
MOTHER : Oh don't be hard on yourself. I'm getting whoever that is. (She walks away)
I kept looking at the letter and my mother came back like she wanted to steal from my room without me seeing it.
CADOC: Err...are you alright Mother?
MOTHER: (whispering ) It's... the girl.
CADOC: Oh...really? (whispering )
MOTHER: Yes, dark hair, green eyes. She has the flower you said she always wore in her head.
My jaw dropped. I had had two surprises in one hour.
