You were sinking into the abyss, someone came to your aid at precisely the right moment. Make a story out of it.

It's been twelve years since I first began seeing horrors on replay. Twelve years since I realized snuffing out my light would simply be vain.
Twelve years since I gave up on wanting to become the dream they made.

One memory echoes forever in my mind,
a slaving brand on my heart,
"You are worthless and undeserving..."
Surely I deserved better...
Better than that.

In chaos I thrived,
For years without end.
Since it made more sense
to put on a bullet proof vest
than deal with the blood leaking pores I've been dealt.

Anyway, it all made sense...
Until you showed up and proved otherwise.
Until you ripped off my shield and said "let's handle your core."
Until you fought against my hate, bitterness and rage,
just to show me love was the strongest force of all.

I had exceeded my limit,
been eager to give it all up,
not wanting to discover just how much more pain I could take...
But your words,
Three succinct words....
"You Are Enough"
They found home in me.
In the darkest of depths in me light hadn't reached,
they sing melodies that play on repeat,
the new echo in my dreams.
