The Home On 1st St.
Shrouded in the dark condemned by the city, the home on first street, was ready to be explored. Micah had navigated through the maze of homes on the edge of the city, and now his prize was the back door to the old home.
Micha was a thrill-seeker and a vlogger. He enjoyed dispelling myths about haunted places and secret locations. The internet was full of stories about this home.
There were rumors it was haunted, a secret government facility, a portal to another world. He intended to get to the bottom of it. Nothing ominous stood out to Micah as he popped the simple padlock and cut the caution tape to the back door.
Stepping inside the home, he was greeted by the smell of water damage, an inky dark, and creaking wooden floors. Micah came prepared. He turned on the red lens flashlight in his hand and made sure the GoPro camera was ready to record. His subscribers we're about to get the video of a lifetime.
The reports about the home were varied. The city had all but abandoned it and the area of the city it was in, was crime and drug-filled. To put it bluntly, nobody came here. That was not what drew Micha to this home, it was the internet rumor mill about the varied vloggers who disappeared coming to this home.
Some of the disappearances we're fully explained. This part of the city was dangerous. A few vloggers turned up robbed and murdered. Coming into this area with money and expensive cameras was an invitation to lose your life. There were two bloggers who came and had not been heard from since. This was why he was here. What happened to these two, and why is this home special?
Slowly heading down the short hallway, Micah recorded the graffiti-laden walls and took in every inch of the short hallway. Narrating in the same voice he used to entertain his youtube fans. So far the home hadn't offered anything that spooked him. The first room of the hallway was the kitchen. To his surprise, minus the scurry of the rats, and the dilapidated condition, the kitchen was mainly intact. Some of the cupboard doors we're gone but a refrigerator stood.
The home was listed on public record as a two bedroom two bath home. Getting a kick out of the fridge still being there, Micah made an exaggerated narration about opening the haunted refrigerator. Seeing all there was to see in the kitchen. Micah returned to the hallway and headed to what he hoped was a haunted bathroom.
The guest bathroom didn't yield much more excitement unless you count, the weird doll on the sink. There was no tub or shower, no toilet, just the remains of where things should be, graffiti, and a used syringe. Moving on to the next room, a bedroom, this time, Micah walked into the damp room. This room had a bed frame, some strewn about weed magazines, broken glass, and a hole in the roof. On the wall above the bed, there was a pentagram spray-painted haphazardly on the wall. This was creepy, now he was getting somewhere. Making sure he got good footage, he narrated a teaser that the home was likely a portal to hell.
He had seen glimpses of the living room through the kitchen. He knew there was not likely to be any secret government lab in there, no ghost had spooked him, and nothing conspiratorial about it at all. No, the living room was another dead end. Frankly, the home itself was just one big dry hole of nothingness. At least, he would be the guy to finally let the internet know, this home was just an abandoned unremarkable spot on the land. His mind did travel to the two missing vloggers. His time here didn't answer that question.
He would check this final bedroom and get some footage of the home from outside and be done with this little misadventure. The door to the final bedroom was open, the room so dark, he was not really able to see very far. The red lens flashlight illuminated the space in front of him, but not by much. Approaching the doorway, he sensed an almost decline in the floor. He wrote it off as damage to the floor.
At the doorway now, he still felt the decline, but now he was more interested in what his flashlight was showing on the walls. There appeared to be pictures up. Stepping further into the room to get a closer look, he stepped with the left, proceeded with the right, and Immediatly felt a falling sensation. In his panic, he thought, "how can I be falling?" Yet he was, darkness, the loss of his flashlight, his orientation, he landed with a hard thud on something hard but yet, soft and moist.
The wind fled his lungs, total disorientation, a vivid pain in his midsection. He raised his head to get a grip on exactly what happened. All he was met with was dark pain, pain so great, it stole his consciousness. Micah came too, the pain was excruciating, but it did not black him out. Glancing up, all he saw was nothing. It was completely dark. Knowing he was in trouble, he instinctively reached for his cellphone. In a mocking remembrance, the location of his phone made itself known, it was in his car. He was worried about being disturbed.
Feeling about the dark, he understood now what he landed on. It was semi-wet dirt or soil. In his now receding confusion, he was glad it was not anything harder. To his luck, he did manage to retain the GoPro camera. It had a lanyard that was attached to him. Happy, due to the cameras low light function, he would be able to see a way to correct this accident. The camera was still recording, adjusting the settings, he flipped to night mode, the greenish hazy image, was better now.
Sadly, what he saw, was worse than the pain his body felt. He appeared to be at the bottom of a sinkhole. It was angled in a manner that he couldn't even see up to the bedroom, it curved almost like an upside-down candy cane. That would explain the hard bump and roll he felt. What made it worse, surveying the floor around him, he found another GoPro and what he knew was the remains of another idiot, who came, and met the same fate as he. Unless a miracle occurred, his secrecy surrounding this visit, lack of food, no water, his injuries, and hubris, would see him die in this hole, in this home, on first street.
