Someone I once dated in high school passed away recently. He was cliff diving, he dove in, and he never resurfaced. He left behind a spouse and two young children. I remember years ago, he and I were in a long-distance relationship, and his outspoken father would tell us, "Distance only makes the heart grow fonder." The relationship was more of a pen pal relationship than anything as well as short-lived, and since high school, we have had our own seperate beautiful lives. Now, since hearing of his passing, it makes me think of all of the loved ones I've lost and of that saying I heard so long ago. My heart longs for the ones who've passed away, and yet I know it's only for a short while. In their absence, I'll let my heart grow in its fondness in its love. This way, our future greeting will be all the more sweet on their side of heaven.
