The Girl and the Fairy
Once upon a time not so long ago,
there once lived a little girl. She had light brown curly hair, skin so white it could be confused with porcelain. Her eyes so green emeralds would be jealous. She wasn't rich but she wasn't poor. She grew up lonely. Her mother died giving birth to her and her father spent his days working, if he wasn't working he was sleeping.
One day a twang of boredom consumed her. She had all her chores done and even read all her books. She decided to take a walk through the wood. As she walked deeper and deeper in she heard a small "heeelllooo" baffled by a noise that wasn't nature she went looking for the sound. Hello she replied. No answer. hmm she wondered if she had actually heard a hello. She continued to walk, taking in the scene. She loved the smell of wild flowers and the breeze on her cheeks. Again she heard Hellllooooo.... She swung around quick, her eyes darted every which way she could see. Still nothing. A little wary she continued on with her walk. At this time she was no longer interested in the beauty that laid before her. She was now curious so much so she decided to intensify her search. She looked around her. She looked up into the trees, and she looked down in the dirt. Still nothing. Getting kind of annoyed she rolled her eyes and continued on with her walk. Thinking to herself she stated that's it!
If I hear it again I'll just ignore it. I must be loosing it she whispered. As she got closer to the end of the trail she decided to head back home. This time she decided to walk with her eyes closed. I know these woods like the back of my hand she stated. She began to walk. As walked she heard it again, this time it was louder, HELLO!!!!!!!! She was scared now, her eyes flew open, she started to run. Faster and faster, she was almost home when she heard "please, please stop" she looked again still she could not see. This time she took a long breath and just looked at her shoe. There holding on for dear life was the tinniest creature she has ever seen. Her eyes widened with awe, what are you as she leaned closer. looking up at her was a tiny fairy. What are you doing on my shoe she asked. Well said the fairy, I was cleaning my porch and all of a sudden I was stuck on your shoe. I called and called and you could not hear me. Oh I am truly sorry please forgive me said the girl. Forgive you!? yelled the fair. You almost killed me. Please there must be something I can do to make up for it, said the girl. No, there is nothing, NOTHING you can do, and with the flick of her wings the girl felt weird. She felt smaller. she looked around and to her horror she was smaller and still shrinking. Nooooo please, stop. I'm sorry cried the girl. Now face to face with the fairy, she saw all the cuts and bruises on her face. She saw the tethered clothes she was even missing a shoe. This said the fairy, is your punishment. You are to remain small until you learn to be aware of your surroundings. When would that be acquired the girl? Whenever time says, stated the fairy.
The fairy showed the girl around, this is where you'll be staying. The girl looked around. It was beautiful the house was a flower and inside there was a cute little home. She loved it. She got to know the other fairies and fell in love with all of them. One day she got to know the fairy who lived next to her. This fairy was an old fairy who could move quite as well as she used to. The young girl started to do errands for the old fairy. One day she was sweeping the porch and all of a sudden she was up in the air. So confused she didn't know what to do. She held onto what she could reach. It was a shoe lace. She screamed and hollered. To no avail. She was screaming and crying then all of a sudden she was no longer in motion. She caught her breath and realized it was her father. Daddy!!!! Daddy can you hear me? She saw him look but knew he could not see. She jumped off the shoe and began to weep. I just wanna go home she sobbed. There out of no where was the fairy that changed her. It looks to me like you have learned what it is like to be small. Have you learned your lesson. Yes she replied. I will always take my time, and consider my surroundings and the people that may be there. With that she returned to her normal size. She forever took her time and learned her surroundings.
