Online Friend
Everyone needs friends in their life. Friends play an important role in our lives. A friend is our support system outside the family. If they are true, they are with you through thick and thin.
They turn your sadness to happiness and make good times better and help you get through bad times with ease. They understand your thoughts, feelings and emotions. They stand with you whenever needed.

But in a world where technology is increasingly expanding, making friends on internet has been popular throughout the world. People search for new friends, soul mates, or confidants. The internet has become an important tool to connect people with each other. Since the internet is so convenient, making friends online may no longer be a problem. Nowadays, term friend has transformed into someone you only know through a screen. Although there are some minor similarities, the difference between real life friends and online friends are profound.

You can meet your real-life friend physically. Online Friend, you meet virtually.
Real-life friend knows you better and you enjoy their company together. You can hug them, comfort them or go for movies together. It is easier to communicate and understand each other because everything can be said face to face.

Whereas, your online Friend could be in any part of the world and it's not easy to physically meet unless they truly want to make an effort to meet their online Friend face to face. Only thing when you make an online friend care should be taken not to divulge all your information which could put you in danger. Let me cite an example here. According to BBC news, a 47 year old man defrauded a 13 year old girl online and asked to meet face to face. Luckily, the girl's mother found out before or else her daughter might have been in danger. Form this news, we can see that online friends may not be honest always and they may hide their true identity, for all you know they would be a terrorist and if they get caught, online friends could be caught too.

That does not mean all online friends are not trustworthy and honest. It depends on your luck and how much information you give about yourself and how much true information you know about them. Even real-life friends can be dishonest or break your trust too. Just as a coin has two sides, so also having real-life friend or and online Friend, both have their pros and cons. But when you need to talk to your friend, you definitely have both the options depending on your friendship with that friend.
It's totally in our hands to be safe and avoid opening our book of life in detail to any friend till you know them well. Everyone cannot be lucky like that 13 years old girl I mentioned above. Remember, whether you have real-life friends or online friends, if they are genuine, honest and respects you, then you are lucky. Otherwise, you yourself can be your friend. Nothing like enjoying your own company.
