The act of Enchantment
Chapter 1: The secret circle
Three hundred and twenty eight years now since 20 people were burned at the stake for being witches. Three hundred years now since witches and warlocks decided to go into permanent hiding.

Three hundred and twenty eight years now since the mage kind decided to become nothing but a myth, and hide away from human kind.

Three hundred and twenty eight years now since witches and warlocks alike forged the ultimate safe haven— The secret circle.

After the massacre of twenty innocent in Salem, witches and warlocks alike forged the ultimate safe haven, the common ground amongst mage kind, the coven for all mage creatures.

The secret circle.

For Three hundred and twenty eight years have the circle remained a secret to all human kind. Until now.

Until the 20th century, when many of the mage kind decided to use their abilities as a weapon against humanity kind.

Humans have grown suspicious. Though many still believe us to be either a Fairytale or a Horror Story, some have grown eyes open of our existence.

The deaths have grown much. The use of magic have become careless, and the fear, the fear mage mind have carried against humans for years is dwindling.

New Orleans, Dair Town, Los Angeles and Ashin Fell Valley have failed to carry the care that witch kind had once coveted.

Ashin Fell Valley have become prime for careless use of magic. Ashin Fell that was once a place of safety for witches, have become a wonderland for tourists.

Ashin Fell– You won't find it on any map. You won't hear of us from any mouths.

But we're here. We're real, and I fear we are no longer a safe haven for witches but not only Disney land for tourists, a bull sign for the black hearts that once burned so twenty of my kind and nearly exposed us.

"Have a good day Tyler." Gladies the albino lady that is my father's assistant said.

She is a nice lady. Her hair was an unnatural blonde because of her genes as an albino.

Her fair skin has tiny freckles scattered all over it, though just a few sprayed along her cheekbones on her face.

She always liked pulling her hair up, much like how I know my father likes. And her dress code has always been the usual dark pencil skirt and a long sleeve blouse— just like how my dad would appreciate.

I give her a warm smile, "thanks Gladies." I say, hopping down from the car.

She caught my arm, making me turn around. "Don't get in trouble Tyler." Though she's smiling there's a warning glint in a hers and one in her tone.

I'm smiling back at her as I say. "When have I ever."

I snatch my arm from her and got down from the car. I hate school. I know it seems like the regular song from a teenager but I hate school.

I hate the thought of sharing space with all of these tourists that thought they could stay in Ashin Fell.

They are always asking questions, trying to know more about the town, making friends with whoever they thought popular enough.

Everything is exciting and mysterious to them.

They're like a gun that could go off anytime when they find just the right thing. And with the young witches in Ashin Fell it scares me that someday they may just find that thing.

Someone laughing bumped into me.

"Yo, Tyler, don't let Coco kill me!" A familiar voice says, letting out a laugh.

I push the idiot off of me, and rolled my eyes at his idiocy. "Get away Ford." I groaned.

A bigger figure saunters through the crowd in the school hall and heads straight for Ford, grabbing him by the school uniform collar.

"I'm gonna bash your head in Ford!" Conan hissed, glaring at the little figure in his grip.

Ford dashes an innocent look I know too well to be feigned. "Aww, come-on, Coco, I didn't do shit."

Ford smirks, knowing he's managed to irk Conan even more. "I'm gonna tear your head right out of your tiny body and send it to your mother through the mail."

"Coco–" Conan raises Ford higher, and pulls him close ready to bang his body against the locker again.

Then I step in. "Okay, okay, cut it out guys, enough of the Tom and Jerry games." I give the time out signal with my hands.

Conan and Ford were two childish morons. The fact that their parents are both friends with my parents is a wonder seeing as how their kids are morons.

The both of them literally spend their days trying to make each other's life miserable.

With the shit the two idiots have done in Ashin high, they should have already been expelled from school if they aren't the kids of the most powerful Mages in the Circle.

Ford's brown eyes dropped at me, giving me an innocent look he is all too good at faking.

Conan turns his glare at me. "Ford is an idiot. Let me rip his limps off." Conan growls, his steel glare turning back at Ford.

Another eye roll from me. "Conan, drop Ford down, people are watching you guys act like idiots again."

Conan grounds his teeth, looking at Ford as if he had a plan to really tear his limps off.

Well I guess it's project failure for him.

"Conan." I drawl, bored with this everyday routine.

Conan continues glaring at Ford for a second more or two before breaking it and throwing his head back, releasing a groan.

"I swear you kill me Tyler, at least let me punch him in the face." Conan gives me a pained look as he pleads.

Ford of course opens his big mouth again. "I don't think the ladies will like that very much."

Conan gives me the usual 'why the hell do you stick up for this idiot?' look and I give him the 'I'm dead in the brain' look.

The bell rings, and I groan at the time I've spent trying to stop the two cat and mouse from killing each other.

"Drop him down Conan, I promise you can play with your chew toy when we get home." I say, banging my locker close and walk away.

I can hear Ford exclaiming from behind. "You don't get to make that promise Ty! And I'm not a chew toy!"

Morons.

With them around many of the elder Mages in the circle fear for the confidentiality of our kind.

The rate of witches and warlocks carelessness with magic has only spiked up after the Harry Potter movie and Alice in wonderland.

I drop my book on my desk and slump on the chair when I hear a familiar voice from behind, "get away from this seat Ashin."

Oh, and how could I have forgotten dearest Destiny Clarence, or should I say 'Dez' as the bastard likes to be called.

I snap my head back as far as I could just to glare at the prick. When I say the elder Mages fear for our kind I meant it because of bastards like him.

He has no care for subtlety. He uses magic as a tool, a helping hand for every aspect of his life.

Hell I wouldn't be surprised if I someday get up and hear his whole appearance is a work of magic.

He likes to surround himself with weaker Mages, along with unsuspecting tourists.

"Fuck off Dez." I damn near hissed.

His yellow–brown eyes are glaring at me as is mine. We hate each other. Anyone that attends Ashin high long enough will learn that.

"Shut up, Ashin, I don't want you in front of me." His face contorts into one of disgust with his words as if my presence repulses him.

Big surprise, his presence repulses me too.

"And I don't want your existence, but hey, we don't always get what we want, you intolerable prick." I bite back, and turn away from him just so I don't do something I'll regret.

Just his face angered me.

"Say one more shit, Ashin, I swear I'll turn you into dust." The bastard says loud enough for the range of others.

See what I mean? He doesn't care for the rules, he's just an arrogant prick, much like his father.

I ball my fist, and my mouth involuntarily opens to blurt something right at him when someone beat me to it, "you say one more shit and I'll pound my fist into your face."

I dart my eyes towards Conan that takes the seat right next to me. Ford takes the one beside Dez, and I know that's misery enough for Dez for the day.

Dez's eyes narrowed up at Conan. His lips curled up into a sneer, "oh and the guard dog is here."

"Your lips look like that of a puppy." Ford blurts out of nowhere.

We all turn to him, and he shrugs. "What? It does!" He defends his stupidity.

Dez shakes his head, before grabbing his bag and walking away. At least I won't have to suffer sharing space with the prick during English class.

Conan huffs, watching him walk away. "Dick. Hey, Tyler are you ready for tonight?" Conan turns back at me.

I know what he means. The eve of Samhain. The night we young Mages are looking forward to. The night we become full bred Mages.

How could I not be?
