Electricity when?
#WritcoStoryPrompt122
Write a short story on what you should do if there was a widespread power outage and no one knew when it would be restored.
Wow, I can really relate to that sentence ;_;

I'll write a true story then!

The damned winds were a pain in the ass. They blew me around and made life more difficult. I had to go somewhere too! Typhoon Odette was really packing a heavy punch. . .

I had to go somewhere by two o'clock in the afternoon. It was raining down HARD. Umbrellas were flipped open and tents were blown away to a different universe. I thought it wouldn't get any worse, but it did.

[7:00 p.m.]

The power went out an hour ago. The monstrous winds had already knocked over the poles and a couple of trees. Not too long ago, one of the three coconut trees in our front yard gave out and dropped heavily on the ground, shaking the ground beneath us and frightening us with a loud sound akin to thunder. What soon followed was more destruction and stronger winds. I feared if it got stronger it would wipe away our ancient house.

[8:00 p.m.]
There goes the decades-old mango tree. It broke in half and laid ungracefully beside our house. I started to wonder why not a single branch managed to scrape our walls. No time to worry about that! I have to hide under the table. . . for safety purposes. Although I'm pretty sure hiding under the table is only effective in earthquake drills and of course, earthquakes.

How bizarre! How exotic! How. . . different! The heavens came and gave us a typhoon! It just so happened to be my mother's birthday. Instead of cake, she got a whole house and front yard to clean. At least, it's a great way to spend time with the family!

Yes, it is great to spend the whole day cleaning. . .

[January 1, 2022]
A beautiful New Year to everybody! No other source of light other than our phones, the fireworks, and the warmth in our hearts. I thought the local government would at least do something to light up a few houses for the new year but I guessed wrong. We hopped in happiness and then shed bitter tears when the time came for us to sleep.

[January something]
I can't wait to celebrate the one month anniversary of no electricity, hurray! Just a few more days and we can remind ourselves once again of the life we used to have back when our electric fan used to work. I thought back on what I did the past few days and recalled a few moments. . .

I played badminton with my sister almost every day. . .

I balanced on top of a dead coconut tree's body. . .

I drank coconut juice. . .

I ate coconut flesh. . .

I slept. . .

I ate. . .

I survived. . .

I cave-womaned my way out of everything. . .

And other stuff. . .

When will the electricity come back? I want to do somethinggg. . .

[That Fateful Day]
The feeling of a light breeze caressing my dry skin woke me up from my sleep. The cheerful rays of sunshine doused my body in warmth. The warmth soon got a little too hot, so I covered the window with the curtains. The light breeze still managed to touch me even with the windows covered, and I soon realized that I had been ignoring the very familiar sound of the ceiling fan whirring with energy.

The electricity was back and I could finally resume my beautiful electric life!

Thankfully, I didn't have to wait until the one month no electricity anniversary.
