I see..
It's 340 something Monday morning and I'm wide awake not being able to get back to sleep my mind fell on him. I got up went on the back porch for a smoke not smoking inside my house. Leo my cat was outside my window begging for me to give him something to eat. I get up go back out to give him a nibble him being so spoiled I get up all times just to feed him. The first thing that I noticed was that my yard light is out I've got to call the light company to replace the bulb. Trying to keep my mind off of Mike I read some of my bible.
My Aunt told me whenever the Lord wake me in the middle of the night he's trying to tell me something so I grabbed my bible opened it and just started reading.

After reading and praying still not being to get back to sleep I got up early to do some writing. Writing still didn't keep my mind off of him as I started writing him into my short stories. I want to know him really know him so I'll just start a conversation with him next time I see him in the diner I thought.
That morning when I got to the diner sure enough he was there sitting in his usual seat next to the window three tables from the door.
Morning Mage I said walking to sit to the table behind his. Passing him I looked downing my head morning so to speak.
I sat down as Mage walked me my coffee, Morning Mike how's your mother I said softly. She better she had this cold and with this virus going around I didn't want to take any chances thank you for asking he said.
Do you live with your mother I asked, no I moved her in with me, my sister lives in Florida with her family he said still eating.
Hearing him talk sent chills up and down my arms so I squeezed both my fist tight. His voice so strong so deep you can just hear the care in it.
After finishing his breakfast he got up left a tip and walked out not even looking back. I got to the Library early started my filing books it being my part time job me not having nothing else to do. The day went by pretty fast getting off work I went by General Dollar to get me something to cook.
Pork and beans, sausage some rice and some of those popup Grand biscuits. Me being from a poor family that is one of my favorite meals I've loved since childhood.
I got home got a bath went to the kitchen cooked got the paper to read as I ate.
He's got this was of making the hair standup on my arms I thought his voice just do something to me. Every morning that week I sat behind him asking questions just talking to him. He wouldn't say anything unless I said something first he wouldn't even look back at me.
Friday morning as he got ready to leave to my surprise he turned around in his booth looked at me and said what's your name.
Eve I said shocked, he got up walked to my table slid his card over to me saying,
Eve this is my card I'm looking for a caretaker for my mother her being elderly not being able to take care of herself think about it and give me a call turned and walked out. All I could do was stare at the card.
The next morning when I got to the diner he wasn't there. After eating breakfast I went to work still thinking about him offering me a job. I took the card out my pocket dialed the first number no answer which was his office number so I dialed the other number on the card. Hello he said I paused hello, Mike this Eve, so you thought about it he said.
What does the job intel what is it that I'll be doing I asked. Ms Blake I'm cooking dinner for my mother I don't mean to be rude or anything but can you come to my house tomorrow to talk he asked,

that way I'll would have help her get her bath for breakfast and we all can sit and talk,
