The Adventures of a Chocolate Labrador Retriever 2
One of our regular task was to break up the dam the beavers built. The cliché “Busy as a beaver” is no joke (sorry couldn’t help it - I love clichés).

We cleared the dam regularly so the fresh water could run into the pond. It just made for better swimming when you didn’t get out looking like a slime monster. It did do wonders for your complexion though.

We hiked a half mile every morning for breakfast at the lodge. If we were late it meant breakfast back at camp (NO FUN!). It meant starting a fire. All the dishes had to be returned cleaned to the lodge.

After finishing morning camp chores, we were on our way. The only exception that morning was a rabid beaver peaked Pepper’s interest.

Yeah, my Chocolate Labrador Retriever! Pepper was her short name, officially her name was Could Be Seasoned Pepper. BUT again I digress…

SO…I sent the group up to the lodge with my assistant so we wouldn’t be late for breakfast while I retrieved my lunatic dog from what was definitely a very sick beaver.

What a time for her to want to meet and greet!

Well $300 later I come home with the cutest puppy I ever laid eyes on. I was in the minority on that opinion; my family thought she was ugly.
You know what they say about ugly ducklings…yeah I must have been looking through the lens of foresight or the family was blind and had no taste.

I’ll go with the latter but she was perfect and everyone else who met thought so. That is anyone that knew anything about that breed of dog and it’s pedigree line. Her trainer said she could very well win if I entered her in some shows. That was not my intentions I just know it was love at first sight.

That of course would vary from time to time depending on her behavior. I just know she became a very expensive love after chewing up $50 and $90 shoes and attempting to digest $350 watches. Thank goodness for “diver’s watches”.

No real harm just an upset stomach and a little tarnish. Aside from that, everything was back to normal. Well as normal as it could be with a dog like her.
