Take Heed
She held on to the fragile branch with
a death's grip as the roaring water
threatened to drag her away, she gasped,
the bubbling swirls entering her mouth.
There was no hope...

With the warm temperatures and the
temptation of a cool, dip in the river
she decided to go for a swim in the
river, but she must be extra careful,
The River Lee, or any other river are
not for swimming, forty percent of
drowning death's in the UK, occurs
in rivers and streams.

But on a warm summers day, people
defy warnings not to swim in the
river, with posted signs advising you
of the danger, no diving, no swimming,
but people still do the opposite.

With the scorching sun overhead, the
waters of the river seem very inviting
on a beautiful sunny day, the river is a
very dangerous place even for the
strongest of swimmers, the tide could
change in an instant, that's exactly
what happened next.

The calmness of the river changed,
catching her off guard a fast flowing
tide swept her down stream at an alarming rate, as she struggles for
breath, she was now in a fight for her
life, with the rushing current comes
debris, there was not much she could
do, she felt helpless, filled with absolute
panic and terror

She grabbed at anything her hands can grab, whilst being swept down stream,
urgency becoming paramount, she
managed to grab a branch, amazing what
fright and fear can do, as she hung to the
branch for her life, she knows it's only a
matter of time, before the current takes
her away or the undertow drags her down she has very little chance of escape
once that happens, she may never surface again.

She clung even tighter to the branch,
she also has to get out of the water and
fast, she could go into cold shock,
heart attack,stroke and rapid drowning,
as she bellowed in agony for help, in a
situation like this the public are warned
not to enter the water or swim in it, and
not to put there lives at risk, if rescue
becomes difficult phone 999 quick
sharp luckily help was at hand 999 was
called and requested the fire and rescue
service, response was efficient and fast,
and another life saved that day.
