Perspiration hung loose on my forehead as I continued in my search. After several minutes of seeking, I gave up in exhaustion and frustration.

If I couldn't find the remnant of the letter, then there was no way I could trace my origins. What was I supposed to do now?

I once again picked up the letter and traced its serrated edges with my thumb. My hands held the stiff brown paper as I read the writing over and over again.

So many questions ran through my mind. Why couldn't she tell me when she was alive? Who are my real parents? Why all these secrets surrounding my true family?

I couldn't try to fanthom what all of these meant. Who do I turn to now for help?
