She was shattered, shattered
like glass. Every piece of her was exposed to the scorching sun, but it always felt as if she was in the dark. Her hands bled from the sharpness of life’s blade and her soul unraveled its quiet rage. She cried in the shower till she could no longer differentiate between the water and her tears.
But the irony is she always looked perfect from afar. She had a forceful smile plastered on her face but it looked more and more genuine as you came closer. Her smile hid deadly secrets behind and her eyes saw atrocities of every kind. She never had anyone who could hold her in her tough times, someone who could be the Harry to her Evelyn every time. No one who could read her eyes like the guide of assembling a child’s toy. So she cried, cried knowing that she didn’t have anyone, knowing that she would alone in the dark phases of her life.
Her grades were perfect but to her nothing was. Body image issues, eating disorders, anxiety, depression you name it and she had it. But she never spoke up, she kept quiet like the animals on the dead of night. She felt the very last drop of her ink pen and some how her phases of life became somewhat like the moon. She was always there for everyone irrespective of what she was going through, but to her there was no one. Not a soul to ever truly rely on.
