My mother never really knew how to love her children, nor did she ever learn how to love herself. She grew up in a deprived rural village in Pakistan to poor parents. Forced to do things she didn’t want to do but she had no choice, she had no rights and no freedom of voice. Where she lived, they didn’t have access to clean water, and the electricity would go on and off every hour or so. Whenever she’d asked for something, she was beaten violently. As a child, she was forced to work and then at the age of 18, she was married against her own will. Causing her to make decisions that would have impacted her future. Growing up in a male dominated country, who take away human rights, is against God’s commands. And this still happens today. Who knows, it might go on forever unless somebody speaks up.
