A Happening Branch
Countdown to Retirement continues-
TimeLine 1989-96

“ Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."
Banking is such a job that you cannot predecide whether you will love it or not. Considering the present challenges Banking offers in current scenario, I do not think many people aspire to be Bankers. I feel that once you are employed irrespective of the job, you have to give 100 percent and you start loving your job. So the optimistic Persona in my DNA made me a happy Banker through out my career from day one as I always believed that "Work is Worship." and always gave 100 percent plus.

From Rural Banking in Assam carering to illiterate villagers to 5* Ambience and Elite Banking in Oberoi was quite a Big Contrast 😳 but an Eternal Aries ♈ Ram in me got soon accustomed to not only learning Forex during the Period of Liberalization but also grooming myself to deal with the foreigners , elites, socialites, politicians in the making and of course Oberoi Family members.

Customer Relationship Officer was the natural norm there as once you open ac of a VIP customer then during all their Banking requirements you became the automatic choice to deliver services. It was yet to enter in Banking till that time but we used to practice it to maintain excellent customer service.

Memory of dealing with Jessica Lal ( on whose life the famous movie " No One Killed Jessica" was based ) is still fresh in my mind for I happened to open her SB account when she joined Oberoi as Sales Executive and also helped her close within 7-8 months to start her unlucky career in a pub where she was killed.

As promised sharing you my close brush with a celebrity. Another happier occasion was dealing with noncustomer celebrity Film Star Amrita Singh of Betaab Fame rumored to be dating Saif Ali Khan at that time. She came along with her Socialite mother Rukhsana Sultan of emergency fame to the Branch almost in the evening at the prompt of our neighbour hood Parlour.

We used to run a Contributory Magazine Library and I opened the Filmfare magazine I had at a page having Saif 's photo to ask her autograph," Will you please, confirm the rumour ?" What happened after that and another close Encounters of Celebrities I will tell tomorrow.
